Endangered Knox County child found, suspect killed in officer-involved shooting, TBI says

Knox County Sheriff’s Office says endangered child found safe in Hamilton County

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A registered sex offender out of Georgia was killed in an officer-involved shooting on the Tennessee-Georgia line early Friday morning, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The man, identified as Edward Ahrens, was found to be in custody of a missing 11-year-old girl out of Knox County.

Around 1 a.m., investigators with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Catoosa County, GA investigators and East Ridge, GA Police Department officers stopped Ahrens on I-75 southbound at Exit 1, various law enforcement officials said Friday.
