Elon Musk funds fired actressâs free-speech lawsuit against Disney, Lucasfilm
Tuesday, February 6, 2024
Actress Gina Carano is suing the studios for firing her over free speech â with the help of one of the worldâs richest men and his social-media platform.
Ms. Carano said Tuesday that the federal lawsuit filed in California against Disney and Lucasfilm accuses the companies of âwrongful discharge and sex discriminationâ by firing her from âThe Mandalorianâ and all future projects.
And she revealed her supporters.
âA couple months ago Elon Musk tweeted that if you had been fired from using the platform (X) for exercising your right to free speech, he would like to offer these people legal representation,â Ms. Carano wrote.
She said she didnât expect anything to come of Mr. Muskâs public words but âmy now lawyers & X believe whole-heartedly in my case & are moving forward.â
Ms. Carano added that she âwould like to express my deepest gratitude & thank you to Elon Musk & X for giving me an opportunity to bring my case to light.â
The main account for X reposted Ms. Caranoâs announcement and touted her case.
âAs a sign of X Corpâs commitment to free speech, weâre proud to provide financial support for Gina Caranoâs lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination,â the platform wrote.
Mr. Muskâs personal account also pushed out Ms. Caranoâs post and added âplease let us know if you would like to join the lawsuit against Disney.â
Ms. Carano said her firing came after â20 years of building a career from scratchâ after she posted ideaa on the platform that were not âin line with the acceptable narrative of the time.â
The lawsuit asks the court to order Lucasfilm to recast her and for at least $75,000 in damages.

International Union of Police Associations backs Trump
February 6, 2024 4:46pm
The International Union of Police Associations on Tuesday endorsed former President Donald Trump's 2024 bid to return to the White House, highlighting his past support for law enforcement.
"President Trump's history of support for the men and women of Law Enforcement is unmatched," IUPA President Sam Cabral said in a statement. "His policies and actions were directed at improving safety in our communities and the men and women who provide that shield. He has earned and deserves our wholehearted support."
"Much of the Democrat's [sic] doctrine supports defunding the police; favors sanctuary cities, open border, and reduced accountability for criminal behavior," he went on. "The tragic result is apparent in those cities who have embraced these policies - the unfortunate forced businesses closures [sic] and the plight that followed."
"Roving gangs are terrorizing retail businesses, raiding them with absolute impunity, akin to a thousand year past - regressive rather than their own progressive ideology," he went on. "They have not dealt with the consequences of their own failed strategies, while we have all suffered. President Trump has reminded the world of the greatness of this country; he is the right person to continue to make America even greater."
Trump, for his part, has repeatedly condemned the "defund the police" movement and called for bolstering border security and law enforcement nationwide. In October of last year, Trump outlined his plans to tackle rising crime across the nation, including the creation of federal stop-and-frisk policies and legal protections for police officers.

Dr. Phil Speaks Out About What He Saw While Visiting Southern Border: âJust Insaneâ
February 6, 2024
Dr. Phil McGraw a celebrity counselor and psychologist, talked with Fox Newsâ Sean Hannity about his recent trip to the southern border.
The former daytime talk show host told Hannity he wanted a better understanding of what was happening at the borderâparticularly amid many conflicting reports from government officials and media outlets.
McGraw shared about a discussion he had with border patrol agents. Shocking Hannity, McGraw said that agents told him âat least 13-14 million peopleâ have entered the country since President Biden assumed office.
That figure is more than twice the number coming from Biden administration officials. Last week, the Daily Wire reported the number could be as high as 20 million.
McGraw said: âWe hear this number, six million people have come across under the current administration. I talked to experts down there that say that number is a myth, that itâs closer to 13 to 14 million that have come across.â
McGraw added: âI asked them straight up, what is it you need here? I was shocked to hear them say, âWe donât need more money. We donât need more resources, we donât need more officers, we donât need more legislation. We just need the laws that are on the books to be followed. We need to be allowed to do our job. And we can get this under control right now.ââ
The passionate McGraw told Hannity the Biden administration had facilitated a humanitarian crisis, and that the suffering could be stopped âovernightâ via executive orders and allowing border agents to do their jobs.
The wave of illegal crossings includes many from China, the Middle East, and Russia, claimed McGraw, highlighting how that was a national security concern.
Itâs âincredibly narcissisticâ to think these people are coming across our southern border âjust because theyâre in the neighborhood,â McGraw said. âTheyâre coming in here with an agenda.â
Warning that many of these migrants are military-aged men, McGraw said, âIâll promise you, they are expected to do certain things. Are they spying? Are they sending seeds back from farming to China? Are they getting plans in the industries theyâre working in? Who knows what theyâre doing, and we need to know.â
âWe have the right to know that, to control whoâs coming into this country. As I said, you donât reward bad behavior. You donât subsidize things you donât want to see more of. But thatâs whatâs happening,â McGraw added.
Noting the variance in how local and federal officials treat those crossing into America illegally, McGraw said, âIf they run into a brown uniformed border guard with the Texas Department of Public Safety, they get arrestedâŚBut if they run into a green uniformed federal agent, they get money and a court date, seven to ten years down the road and they get released into the country.â
âSo you see these groups coming across and if they see a brown uniform they hide. If they see a green uniform, they run towards it,â he added. âThat to me is just insane that we have that kind of difference going on down there with guys working side by side.â
