Theories of Aesthetics posit different "flavors" of Art.
"compassion" or "Sadness" or "Caritas" is sometimes said to be the dominant, most important flavor - (maybe if you are a Buddhist ?
"All life is suffering" (because of ultimate separation)?)
Buddhists are atheist, though.
this aphorism I like:
"The suffering that is to come.
Can and should be avoided"
I had to shake-off sadness in order to get on with my life; it can become pathological?

The birds cry "fa faf faffa fafa"

Purgation? Catharsis?
"Sad Song is all I know"
