Trump Lawyer Habba to E. Jean Carroll After Massive Award: Don’t Buy Anything Just Yet

https://conservativebrief.com/trump-habba-5-81039/

Former President Donald Trump’s lawyer and spokeswoman offered some free legal advice to writer E. Jean Carroll after a jury awarded her an eye-popping $84.3 million settlement in a defamation trial this month: Don’t spend the money just yet.

During an interview on Newsmax TV with host Eric Bolling, Habba attacked Carroll for offering to purchase MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow a penthouse apartment and new clothes following a jury’s decision.

“It was like being in an epic Twilight Zone where no rules were allowed but for the other side, and then she goes out there and gloats and says she’s gonna buy France, and a wardrobe, and a motorcycle, and this and that. I want everyone to remember, and I said this in my closing argument to the jury: she’s here to get a check, and after this, she will continue. She didn’t care, you know, about the defamation. She didn’t. She cared about the publicity,” Habba said.

“On appeal, those rulings will come up, the one-sidedness will come up, and we will prevail,” predicted Habba, before concluding, “My advice to her would be not to go ahead and purchase any motorcycles or penthouse apartments.”

During her interview with Maddow, Carroll was asked about her previous statements implying that any funds she would receive from Trump would be allocated specifically to “help shore up women’s rights.”

“Yes, Rachel! Yes!” Carroll responded. “I had such, such great ideas for all the good I’m gonna do with this money.”

“First thing, Rachel, you and I are gonna go shopping!” she exclaimed. “We’re gonna get complete new wardrobes, new shoes, motorcycle for [Carroll’s attorney Shawn] Crowley, a new fishing rod for Robbie [Carroll’s attorney Roberta Kaplan] — Rachel, what do you want? A penthouse? It’s yours, Rachel! Penthouse in France? You want France? You want to go fishing in France? No?”

As Maddow giggled at Carroll’s remarks, Carroll’s attorney jumped in and said, “That’s a joke.”

The video went viral after numerous individuals stated that her comments eroded her credibility.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha said, “If you needed any more proof this whole suit and verdict was a crock, here it is. And of course, Maddow still soaks it all up while not realizing how damaging this is.”

Biden Special Counsel Report Raises New Questions About ‘Dual Justice,’ Mental Capacity

https://conservativebrief.com/biden-special-81041/

Though Special Counsel Robert Hur decided not to file any charges against President Joe Biden for his mishandling and illegally possessing classified documents, the White House now has fresh 2024 campaign issues that it must address.

Namely, opponents of Hur’s decision will note again that, as Biden’s administration continues its prosecutions of his likely opponent, former President Donald Trump, as well as former Trump associates and officials, there appears to be a two-tiered system of justice — one for opponents and one for friends of the regime.

Also, Hur’s documentation of Biden’s substantial loss of mental capacity will also renew arguments among what is now a large majority of Americans — based on the most recent surveys — that they do not believe the president can serve another four-year term, much less serve out his current term.

Just the news notes:

Hur’s 388-page report released Thursday may have spared Biden the spectacle of a criminal prosecution similar to that his Justice Department imposed on Donald Trump, but it delivered a devastating blow to the 46th president’s re-election hopes by going out of its way to explain criminal charges weren’t levied in part because jurors might see Biden as a dottering, forgetful old man incapable of criminal intent.

“Mr. Biden will likely present himself to the jury, as he did during his interview with our office, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Hur wrote in explaining his rationale for refusing prosecution. “…It would be difficult to convince a jury they should convict him – by then a former president who will be at least well into his eighties – of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”

“Our investigation uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen,” the report concluded.

Hur added for good measure he believed Biden suffered from “diminished faculties in advancing age.”

Critics pounced immediately.

Biden’s only remaining Democrat challenger for the 2024 presidential nomination, Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, said Hur’s report exposed a “sad” reality that “the President cannot continue to serve as our Commander-in-Chief beyond his term.”

Republicans were even more direct in their approach. Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., penned a letter Thursday night urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to contemplate instigating proceedings within the Cabinet to oust Biden as incapacitated under the 25th Amendment.

Other Republicans made it very clear that they plan to use the details of Hur’s findings as a political weapon throughout the 2024 campaign cycle.
