In 1961, the White House sent the Navy a set of elaborate plans for a naval base under Antarctica. Attached was a note with the order "Build it! J.F.K." After reviewing the fanciful plans, admirals called the White House to question the feasibility and cost of the project. It was then that the admirals learned the plans had been submitted to the White House by a 12-year-old girl and then sent to the Navy with a fake note by one of Kennedy's aides as a joke. Unamused, Naval Intelligence launched in investigation to find the prankster but the culprit was never revealed.
