House Passes Bill To Work Against Countries Normalizing With Syria

The bill is designed to expand already crippling economic sanctions on Syria

On Wednesday, the House passed a bill that prohibits the US from opening diplomatic relations with the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad and expands harsh sanctions on Syria to prevent other countries from normalizing with Syria.

The Assad Regime Anti-Normalization Act passed in a vote of 389-32, demonstrating broad bipartisan support for the economic war against Syria. Only 28 Democrats and four Republicans voted against the bill. The legislation now heads to the Senate.

The bill was introduced as a reaction to Arab countries repairing relations with the Assad government and Syria being brought back into the Arab league. Hawks in the US are opposed to Syria’s regional integration and are hoping they can prevent it using sanctions under the Caesar Act.

The Caesar Act was implemented in 2020 and allows the US to sanction any individual or entity that does business with the Syrian government. The sanctions are specifically designed to prevent Syria from rebuilding, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken has previously said it’s US policy to “oppose the reconstruction of Syria” as long as Assad remains in power.

The text of the bill declares that it’s US policy “to actively oppose recognition or normalization of relations by other governments with any Government of Syria that is led by Bashar Al-Assad, including by fully implementing the mandatory primary and secondary sanctions in the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act.”

On top of the economic sanctions on Syria, the US has about 900 troops occupying the eastern portion of the country, where it backs the Kurdish-led SDF and controls oil fields. Recent reports have suggested the US was considering a withdrawal from Syria as its forces have been under attack since October due to US support for the Israeli slaughter in Gaza. But an SDF commander said last week that he received assurances from the US that a withdrawal was not on the table.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Friday publicly revealed the identities of 12 UNRWA staff members who Israel says “actively participated” in the Hamas-led October 7 onslaught on southern Israel.

The attack saw some 3,000 Hamas-led terrorists burst across the border into Israel from Gaza by land, air and sea, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages of all ages — mostly civilians — under the cover of a deluge of thousands of rockets fired at Israeli towns and cities.

The US and multiple European countries halted aid to UNRWA last month following Israel’s allegations against staffers. Donors such as Britain and the United States have indicated they will not resume support until the UN’s internal investigation into the allegations ends. A preliminary report is due to be published in the next several weeks.

Among the staff who took part in the attacks are teachers who worked at UNRWA schools.

“In addition to these 12 workers, we have significant indications based on intelligence, that over 30 UNRWA workers participated in the massacre, facilitated the taking of hostages, looted and stole from Israeli communities, and more,” Gallant said in a briefing with foreign press.

According to Gallant, of the 13,000 UNRWA employees in Gaza, at least 12% are affiliated with the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups.

“1,468 workers are known to be active in Hamas and PIJ, 185 UNRWA workers are active in the military branches of Hamas and 51 are active in the PIJ military branch,” he said.

The United Nations has announced the creation of an independent panel to assess the agency following the claims. Israel, which provided the evidence of UNRWA members participating in the attack, has said the mandate for the probe is too vague and won’t prevent terrorists from taking advantage of the organization in the future.

CDC Confirms ‘Unknown’ Outbreak on Cruise Ship Has Spread

Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea, said the CDC, which provided no other details.

An “unknown” outbreak aboard a cruise ship is spreading, and now 154 people are sickened, said the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in an update this week.

So far, 25 crew members and 129 passengers on the Carnival-owned Cunard Cruise Line’s Queen Victoria have become ill during the trip, which is up by about 15 cases from when the illnesses were reported earlier in February, according to the CDC. The Queen Victoria cruise has 1,824 passengers and 967 crew members on board, according to the agency.

It’s still not clear what’s causing the outbreak on the cruise ship, which left Florida on Jan. 22. Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea, said the CDC, which provided no other details.

Cunard Cruise Line confirmed that guests on the Queen Victoria became sick during the trip.

“Cunard confirms that a number of guests had reported symptoms of gastrointestinal illness on board Queen Victoria on voyage V405 which departed Florida on [Jan. 22] and arrived in San Francisco on [Feb. 7],” said the cruise operator in a statement to news outlets this week. “They immediately activated their enhanced health and safety protocols to ensure the wellbeing of all guests and crew on board and these measures have been effective.”

According to the tracking website CruiseMapper, the Queen Victoria is on a 55-day trip that will travel around the world from Germany to Australia. It’s final destination date is March 4. This week, the ship reached Honolulu, Hawaii.

The recent illnesses come about a month after nearly 100 passengers on a Celebrity Cruises vessel, the Celebrity Constellation, were sickened with norovirus when it departed in early January from Florida, said the CDC in a separate update.

In that outbreak, the agency said that 92 passengers and eight crew members became ill, with the main symptoms being diarrhea and vomiting.

COMMON OUTBREAK SOURCE

While the CDC report still hasn’t revealed the cause of the Cunard cruise ship’s outbreak, norovirus has been the most common source of illnesses on cruise ships in recent years. The agency reported 14 illness outbreaks on cruise ships in 2023, with norovirus being listed as the causative agent in all but one of the incidents.

Last year, for example, a norovirus outbreak sickened more than 170 people on a Celebrity cruise ship, with the main symptoms being diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and headaches.

In a normal year, according to the CDC, norovirus causes between 19 million and 21 million cases of vomiting and diarrhea, 109,000 hospitalizations, and 900 deaths across the United States. The virus also is associated with about 495,000 emergency department visits, mostly in younger children, the CDC says.

If there is a new strain of the virus, the CDC says, there can be upward of 50 percent more norovirus illnesses in a given year.

The CDC’s webpage for norovirus says the virus is very contagious and generally causes vomiting and diarrhea. “Anyone can get infected and sick with norovirus. Norovirus is sometimes called the ’stomach flu‘ or ’stomach bug,’” the agency says. “However, norovirus illness is not related to the flu.”

Other than cruise lines, norovirus outbreaks often occur in health care facilities, long-term care facilities, restaurants, child care centers, and schools. Noting the association between norovirus outbreaks and cruises, the CDC says that more than 90 percent of “outbreaks of diarrheal disease on cruise ships” are caused by the virus.

“These outbreaks often get media attention, which is why some people call norovirus the ‘cruise ship virus,’” the CDC says. “However, norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships account for only a small percentage … of all reported norovirus outbreaks. Norovirus can be especially challenging to control on cruise ships because of the close living quarters, shared dining areas, and rapid turnover of passengers.”

WEF Proposes Ban on Gardening

The globalist overlords are attempting to block every option we have to remain independent from government tyranny. The World Economic Forum (WEF) has proposed a full ban on homegrown food, citing their favorite excuse – climate change.

That’s right, the WEF believes that home gardening is destroying the planet. “The impact on the environment is almost five times higher at 0.34kg per portion for individual gardens, such as vegetable patches or allotments,” they stated, alluding to a study by the University of Michigan that was funded by the very people supporting this agenda. “The carbon footprint of homegrown foods is five times greater than produce from conventional agricultural practices, such as rural farms, data show.”

Fruit is apparently 8.6 times more eco-friendly when grown by government-controlled agencies, and vegetables are 5.8 times safer for the planet when grown under the same conditions. Tomatoes and asparagus were the only produce they identified as safe to grow at home. “We find that urban farmers and gardeners can reduce their net impact by focusing on foods that are high-carbon in conventional agriculture,” one of the study’s researchers claims. Obviously, all of this is absolutely ABSURD.

The elites want complete control over our food supply. They have already implemented numerous regulations to prevent people from hunting and fishing. Now, they demand that we peasants cease gardening at home and use studies they are funding as examples.

Ironically, the US government and others were promoting at-home gardening, such as “Victory Gardens,” during the last World War when food supplies were diminished. The people will be easier to control when they are hungry and weak. The globalists feel the need to control us in every aspect of life. Any agency associated with the World Economic Forum is not to be trusted, and the governments who comply with their demands are traitors who want to watch society crumble.

AIRSTRIKES HIT EASTERN SYRIA AFTER ATTACK ON U.S. BASE

Late on February 15, the United States military’s Green Village base in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor came under attack.

Al-Mayadeen TV and several other sources said that a salvo of rockets hit the base, which is located within al-Omar oil fields in the southern countryside of Deir Ezzor. There were no reports of casualties or material losses, however.

A few hours after the alleged attack, a series of airstrikes hit three positions of pro-government forces in eastern Syria, according to Sputnik, which didn’t provide any details.

The U.S. Central Command has not yet announced any attack on the Green Village or claimed responsibility for any airstrikes on Syria. Still, it is very likely that the airstrikes reported by Sputnik were carried out by the command’s forces in response to the attack on the base.

More than 170 attacks have targeted U.S. forces in Syria and neighboring Iraq since October 18 in response to the Israeli war on Gaza and Washington’s unwavering support for it. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iranian-backed armed factions, has claimed responsibility for most of the attacks.

The attacks slowed down after a drone strike on January 28 killed three American service members at a base known as Tower 22 in Jordan. The U.S. responded to the deadly strike with a series of strikes against Iranian-backed forces in Syria and Iraq.

According to the Pentagon, the attacks in Syria and Iraq have so far wounded 186 service members. A contractor was also killed in one of the earlier attacks.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin was told information of the leader's passing. Authorities said the cause was still “being established.”

The event comes ahead of a presidential election next month, just ahead of what would be Putin's fifth term in office.
