This doctor is named AUTUMN GRIM. Going to be a bad fall? Honestly feels like we are in a cartoon at this point.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Since the start of 2024, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirms nine cases of measles.
Those cases were reported in Missouri, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
In late January, the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Ohio Department of Health, and CDC confirmed another case after an infected Ohio man traveled through the Northern Kentucky international Airport.
Director of Cape Girardeau County Public Health and epidemiologist Autumn Grim said while the measles virus is highly contagious, it’s easily preventable.
“We have a vaccine, and that vaccine is very effective. In fact, it’s one of the most effective vaccines that we have,” said Grim.
The measles vaccine has been in use since 1963, according to the CDC. Prior to that, hundreds of people died each year from measles.
