>If you were drowning ……….and someone saved you are they (sic) 'God like"?
Good question. When I was between my freshman and sophomore year I spent a couple months at a popular beach town. One day we had a rip current form. One person out beyond the breakers started waving his arms. Me and a couple buddies made a b-line to him while just behind us the life guards were bring out a flotation ring and forming a chain. Let go of the distressed person and handed him off to the lead life guard. I saw everything was okay, he was saved. I was the last one out there. I confidently put my head down and started swimming to the shore (only 50 yards or so). I took about 20 strokes and looked up and I was in the same place. I wasn't a foot closer to the shore.
At that moment a swimmer appeared right behind me and asked something like: what happened out here, how you doing. I answered someone was saved and I don't think I can make it back. He was as calm as can be. He said when a swell come up I'll give you a push. I started swimming, but not hard) until a swell came and I he gave me a push. I swam hard (maybe) 6-8 strokes and then eased off until the next one.
I never looked back to see the guy and he never said another word. After about 5 or 6 swells and pushes I got to a breaker. I soon got to the beach and collapsed on my back. I never saw the man who saved me again and my buddies and a life guard never saw him to begin with.
I don't know what you would call it but I know what I call it.
