IN THE 1980s Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher built a new conservatism around markets and freedom. Today Donald Trump, Viktor Orban, and a motley crew of Western politicians have demolished that orthodoxy, constructing in its place a statist, “anti-woke” conservatism that puts national sovereignty before the individual. These national conservatives are increasingly part of a global movement with its own networks of thinkers and leaders bound by a common ideology. They sense that they own conservatism now—and they may be right.
Despite its name, national conservatism could not be more different from the ideas of Reagan and Thatcher. Rather than being sceptical of big government, national conservatives think ordinary people are beset by impersonal global forces and that the state is their saviour. Unlike Reagan and Thatcher, they hate pooling sovereignty in multilateral organisations, they suspect free markets of being rigged by the elites and they are hostile to migration. They despise pluralism, especially the multicultural sort. National conservatives are obsessed with dismantling institutions they think are tainted by wokeness and globalism.

A second Trump term, the horror! Conservatives, Christianity
— a massacre for the United States, according to Left-wing The Economist.
According to The Economist, a "growing peril" of a national conservative movement is spreading rapidly throughout the U.S.
The outlet called on liberals to stop the MAGA movement that they claim is "dangerous."
The authors compared conservatism in the 1980s during the Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher era to former President Trump's presidency.
"Today Donald Trump, Viktor Orban, and a motley crew of Western politicians have demolished that orthodoxy, constructing in its place a statist, "anti-woke" conservatism that puts national sovereignty before the individual. These national conservatives are increasingly part of a global movement with its own networks of thinkers and leaders bound by a common ideology," the outlet noted. "They sense that they own conservatism now — and they may be right."
The magazine's cover features a red MAGA hat that lists several nations saying, "Make America, Hungary, Italy, France, Israel, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland great again."
The article warns that conservatives will reign power by capturing "state institutions, including courts, universities, and the independent press."
Breitbart News highlighted that the article's authors are uninterested in the real problems Americans face daily in the country— and instead, drive intense hate toward the conservative movement that intends to bring the nation back to before the Left's progressive movement took over.
The piece reads like a call to arms against a movement that seems to grow stronger by the day as people around the world grow fed up with being governed by ideologically driven, progressive globalist elites blithely uninterested in the real problems faced by ordinary people.
Today's national populists "do not see the West as the shining city on the hill, but as Rome before the fall — decadent, depraved and about to collapse amid a barbarian invasion," the article states.
Curiously, the article insists that national conservatism is the "politics of grievance," which appears to be an act of willful blindness to the dominance of grievance in the woke politics that populists abhor.
HOT TAKES: Twitter Totally Clowns Haley Into Oblivion After Ill-Advised Post on Male GOP Nom Contenders

The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.
Social media can be a dangerous place for clueless politicians who lack self-awareness. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who is running for the GOP presidential nomination learned this the hard way on Sunday.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Haley, or a member of her staff who needs to be fired, wrote: “12 fellas down. 1 to go.”
The post was an obvious reference to the Republican field of contenders who were previously vying for the nomination before dropping out. Haley remains the only challenger to former President Donald Trump worth discussing at this point.
But, given the rumors about Haley having multiple extramarital affairs, this probably wasn’t the best choice of words, and X users made no bones about letting her have it. The reactions were priceless:
What is even more amazing is that the post is still up on X, which could indicate that Haley or her team is not aware of how silly this looks. Otherwise, they would have deleted it a long time ago.
The rumors about Haley have been around for over a decade. But they were recently resurrected when the UK's Daily Mail published an exclusive report featuring comments from witnesses who came forward to discuss them.
In a Daily Mail exclusive, former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is alleged to have had an affair with not one but two men before she became South Carolina's governor in 2010. RedState covered the allegations in 2010 here and here. Haley denied the allegations and went on to win two terms as governor. According to the Daily Mail report, new witnesses purport that Haley's denial of the 2007-2008 affairs was false.
Presidential candidate Nikki Haley falsely denied cheating on her husband when she was accused of engaging in two extramarital affairs during her gubernatorial campaign, multiple sources who worked with her claim.
New witnesses have come forward telling DailyMail.com that Haley's denials of two alleged 2008 affairs are false, and that the supposed trysts were brazen and widely known among South Carolina politicos.
Will Folks, 49, and Larry Marchant, 61, both signed affidavits in 2010 alleging they had a sexual relationship with the then-South Carolina lawmaker, before she went on to become governor.
While the contents of the affidavits were described by major news outlets at the time, this is the first time they have been published outside of Folks' own document which he published on his blog.
Haley, 51, denied both at the time, saying she was '100% faithful' to the father of her two children and husband of 28 years, Michael Haley – who was deployed in Afghanistan with the National Guard in 2012.
Haley now frequently cites him as a reason for her presidential candidacy.
The next order of business for Haley’s campaign should be either to coach the candidate on how not to beclown herself on the internet or fire the people who run her social media.

Earlier today, we wrote about New York Attorney General Letitia James' horrible, arrogant tweet gloating over the outrageous verdict handed down by Judge Arthur Engoron, ordering Donald Trump to pay a $355 million penalty for overvaluing Mar-A-Lago in loan applications.
We talked about the potential for karma to hit James and New York after her juvenile bragging, but at least a little bit of karma may already be coming soon in the form of VERY nervous businesses in the state of New York.
Governor Kathy Hochul at least seems to be a little concerned that some businesses particularly real estate developers might not be looking to invest in her state after witnessing Engoron's ruling.

Nope, nothing to see here. Hochul promises that they will never go after you like they did Trump. Scout's honor. Assuming you are an obedient Democrat, that is. But what about businesses run by conservatives? Are they safe from judges like Engoron?
The Hill provides more details:
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) addressed New York business owners in a new interview and told them there was “nothing to worry about” after former President Trump was hit with a $355 million fine and a ban on conducting business in New York for three years.
Hochul joined John Catsimatidis on 'The Cats Roundtable' on WABC 770 AM, where she was asked if other New York businesspeople should be worried that if 'they can do that to the former president, they can do that to anybody.'
'I think that this is really an extraordinary, unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about, because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior,' Hochul responded.

They are the true Patriots. ''We will never forget.'' Let these coming days be remembered in our history as the time we fought to recapture the republic from those evil bad actors who for so long have sacrificed the good people of this land for their own personal gain.
Fight the good fight.
LET JUSTICE BE SERVED.

God speed to those who will be put in harms way. You are the bravest men and women on earth.
''We will never forget.''
All share one title in common and that is the title of "Hero."
"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."
