These days, 10 years ago, the most tragic events of Euromaidan took place on the streets of Kyiv. Security forces opened fire with lethal weapons against the protesters
On February 18-21, 2014, the most massive clashes between protesters and security forces took place in #Kyiv since the beginning of #Euromaidan. The consequence of those events was the flight from the country of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, the annexation of #Crimea and the beginning of a protracted conflict in southeastern #Ukraine.
According to various estimates, between 78 and 83 activists died in and around the Maidan between February 18 and 20, 2014. After February 20, more than 20 more protesters died of injuries. After these events, the dead began to be called the "Heavenly Hundred".
