Marcella Tillett abruptly resigns as head of Eric Adams’ ‘Mayor’s Fund’ for NYC after just 16 months: ‘Nobody had expected it’

Marcella Tillett, the executive director of the Mayor Eric Adams’ Fund to Advance New York City, has abruptly stepped down after roughly 16 months on the job, The Post has learned.

The not-for-profit entity is a fundraising vehicle that doles out millions of dollars in donations from Wall Street, developers, lobbyists, nonprofits and other private and government sources to help fund city initiatives backed by the mayor.

Adams announced his appointment of Tillett — who previously served as a top executive at the Brooklyn Community Foundation when the mayor was Brooklyn borough president — in October 2022.

“People were surprised Marcella is leaving. Nobody had expected it,” said one source close to the Mayor’s Fund.

Marcella Tillett, the executive director of Mayor Eric Adams’ Fund to Advance New York City, has stepped down, sources told The Post.

Tillett declined phone and email requests for comment on Tuesday. She was not physically in attendance at the last board meeting of the Mayor’s Fund on February 2.

>The Mayor’s Fund had been working on a partnership with City Hall and Wole Coaxum and his Mobility Capital Finance company — the firm that won the controversial no-bid city contract that provides taxpayer-financed, pre-paid cash cards to migrants — on a separate program to help poor New Yorkers.

California budget crisis worse than Newsom projected, as state watchdog warns deficit could reach record $73B

California's budget crisis is projected to expand more than previously thought and could hit a record deficit of $73 billion, according to a new report from the state's nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office (LAO).

The LAO laid out the grim forecast in a Tuesday report that cautions that a $24 billion "erosion in revenues" corresponds to a $15 billion increase in the state's budget problem. Due to this, the budget deficit, which last month was estimated to hit $58 billion, could now go as high as $73 billion.

"The actual increase in the state's budget problem will depend on a number of factors, including formula-driven spending changes, most notably Proposition 98 spending requirements for schools and community colleges," the report said.

H.D. Palmer, the deputy director of the California Department of Finance and Newom's spokesperson on budget matters, responded to the new LAO report by telling Fox News Digital that their budget shortfall differs from the $38 million they estimate.

"From now through April, more than $51 billion in income and corporate tax receipts are forecast to come in," Palmer said. "No one can say today with certainty how those numbers may change the budget estimate of a $38 billion shortfall."

"A responsible step would be for the Legislature to act now on the early action budget measures needed for $8 billion in solutions to help close this gap," he added.

Covid-19: Vaxathon 'a call to action' - Efeso Collins

[from Oct 2021]

A South Auckland councillor says Saturday's 'Vaxathon' is a "call to action" to get people their Covid-19 shots.

Aotearoa is set to host its first-ever 'Vaxathon' - a nationwide event aimed at boosting vaccination numbers by around 100,000.

Manukau ward councillor Efeso Collins said he was excited about the event, but also hoped it was a little less like the Telethon of old and perhaps a lot more like TikTok of today.

He told Morning Report he had seen huge turnout at vaccination events across South Auckland and he was hoping Saturday saw good numbers too.

He told Morning Report he had seen huge turnout at vaccination events across South Auckland and he was hoping Saturday saw good numbers too.

"I think Saturday is like our call to action, and it can be a really fun environment that young people will come along to maybe do a few TikToks while they're standing outside and have a great day."

Collins said when dealing with groups that may have been disengaged or disenfranchised it was important to get the communication right.

"Create events where people want to come along, they want to feel like they're a part of something. I think that's the key here, is we're encouraging people to come along as their bubbles, feel like they're part of a movement, and that's going to inspire people to be part of the action on Saturday.

"I'm really excited about it, I'll be there as well, apparently they're coming, they're going to be crossing live to Ōtara a couple of times, and within the youth groups who've been in contact with me already saying they're keen to do a TikTok."

Collins said he might not be in line to take part in any TikToks himself though, he thought he was a bit out of rhythm.
