I looked into this a couple years ago, interested.
The site that claimed hoax had side-by-side pics of Mars and Devon Island.
The Mars pic had a big NASA logo on it.
However, going to NASA and searching through the Mars photos showed not a single Devon Island picture and none from the hoax site. Not a single picture.
Told me some "nose" was likely trying to smear a verifiable accomplishment by simply applying a red filter to Devon Island pics and pasting a NASA logo on it as if that would be enough to fool people into thinking something real was a hoax.
Just saying.
