This is the verse used as the descriptive for the word RAPTURE.

Rapture comes from Latin, a word which doesn't exist in scripture. Which also comes with a fictional story, which scripture doesn't actually describe.

So here is what it really says. Let's take a look at the key words and phrases which are misinterpreted and put them into perspective and context, as the author originally wrote it.

1 Thessalonians 4:17

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

shall be caught up ἁρπαγησόμεθα

ἁρπάζω

harpazō

Definition: to seize on, claim for one's self eagerly

the clouds, nephelē νέφος

Definition: used of the cloud which led the Israelites in the wilderness (Holy Spirit, also the cloud which hovered over the deep of creation)

the air: aēr áēmi (to breathe unconsciously, i.e. respire; by analogy, to blow)

Correct interpretation as authored in context is as follows:

We shall be eagerly seized/claimed unto Himself/The Holy Spirit/Our Lord, to meet our Lord which will come as naturally as respiration. And so shall we ever remain in this state with our Lord.
