Not sure this piece is correct, but I think the question about the significance of "Columbia" is worth asking.

There were several "Columbias" in the 2017 path of totality. Also, in 2003 the space shuttle Columbia blew up 'over Texas and Louisiana!

The name is derived from "Columbus" as I understand it and refers to a dove. I think of the dove in a positive light, but recently learned it could be associated with a false "god".

The District of Columbia is like the City of London isn't it? Like a separate country, right?
