Russia arrests billionaire industrialist

Police in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Region arrested Yury Antipov on Monday, after a regional court seized three of his companies due to alleged irregularities with their privatization in the 1990s. Antipov was included on the latest Forbes list of Russian billionaires.

Antipov’s arrest was first reported by the local outlet 74.ru, citing a source in one of his companies, the Chelyabinsk electro-metallurgy combine (ChEMK). It was unclear what charges he was facing, however.

Earlier in the day, a court in Sverdlovsk Region ordered the transfer of ChEMK, Kuznetsk Ferroalloys and the Serov Ferroalloy Plant back to state ownership, after ruling that they were illegally privatized following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Antipov and his wife Lyudmila ended up controlling the largest Russian producer of iron alloys and electrodes through their joint stock company Etalon…

Bitcoin hits two-year high

The leading cryptocurrency surged above the $57,000 mark on Tuesday

The price of Bitcoin, the world’s highest-valued cryptocurrency, hit a two-year high on Tuesday.

The token rose as far as $57,036 in early Asian trading, its highest level since November 2021, having recovered from a tumble below $40,000 in the initial days following the opening of US-based spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in early January. Later in the day, it pulled back slightly to trade at $56,325 as of 08:30 GMT, still up more than 9% over the past 24 hours.

Analysts attribute the latest surge to inflows into ETFs, which posted a record-high $2.4 billion in trading volume on Monday. ETFs allow more retail investors to hold Bitcoin indirectly via funds that trade on exchanges.

“There’s only so much supply… but the demand unleashed by the US spot ETFs seems to be relentless,” Justin d’Anethan from Keyrock, a digital asset market maker, told Reuters.

The rally was also spurred by growing interest in Bitcoin from big market players, experts say. This followed Monday’s disclosure from software company MicroStrategy, a large crypto investor, that it had recently acquired some 3,000 bitcoins for approximately $155 million. Social media platform Reddit also recently said it had invested some of its excess cash reserves in Bitcoin and several smaller tokens.

The recent rally in Bitcoin took the token’s market capitalization to $1.11 trillion, according to Coindesk. So far this year, Bitcoin has gained 33.28%.

NATO troops in Ukraine can’t be ruled out – Macron

The French president has insisted that everything necessary must be done to ensure that Russian forces lose

French President Emmanuel Macron has argued that deployments of troops to Ukraine by NATO members and other allies cannot be ruled out because Western powers must stop at nothing to ensure that Russia does not defeat Kiev’s forces.

“There’s no consensus today to send, in an official manner, troops on the ground,” Macron told reporters after hosting a meeting of European leaders on Monday in Paris. “But in terms of dynamics, we cannot exclude anything. We will do everything necessary to prevent Russia from winning this war.”

France hosted Monday’s summit of Ukraine backers to demonstrate steadfast support and European unity amid concerns that US aid to Kiev may stop, especially if Donald Trump wins this year’s presidential election. Macron said that while Ukraine’s European allies want to avoid escalating the conflict into a direct war with Russia, they agree that they must do more to ensure that Moscow doesn’t win.

“We have to take stock of the situation and realize our collective security is at stake,” the French leader said. “We have to ratchet up. Russia must not win, not only for Ukraine, but secondly, we are, by doing so, ensuring our collective security for today and for the future.”

Macron noted that the allies who say “never, ever” today about direct troop deployments to Ukraine are the same ones that previously ruled out escalations of military aid that were later granted, including long-range missiles and fighter jets. “Two years ago, a lot around this table said that we will offer helmets and sleeping bags, and now they’re saying we need to do more to get missiles and tanks to Ukraine. We have to be humble and realize that we’ve always been six to eight months late, so we’ll do what is needed to achieve our aim.”

France can’t stop mercenaries going to Ukraine

There is broad consensus among the nations represented at Monday’s meeting that the allies must provide more aid to Ukraine and step up more quickly, Macron claimed. “We are not at war with the Russian people, but we cannot let them win in Ukraine,” he said, adding, “We are determined to do everything necessary for as long as necessary. That is the key takeaway from this evening.”

EU nation’s PM decries ‘martial’ mood at Ukraine meeting

Slovakia will under no circumstances send troops to help Kiev fight Russia, Robert Fico has insisted

Pro-Ukrainian leaders of EU states seem intent on continuing hostilities with Russia “at all costs,” Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico claimed after a key security meeting in Paris on Monday. Bratislava’s fears have been confirmed in this respect, he added.

The gathering was convened by French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss EU members’ Ukraine policy, in light of battlefield setbacks for Kiev and other challenges. Following the meeting, Macron said the official deployment of Western troops to Ukraine cannot be ruled out, even though there is no consensus on the issue.

The event was remarkable due to a “purely martial atmosphere,” Fico said in a video statement. He declined to reveal who had said what behind closed doors, but stated that pro-Ukrainian participants had appeared determined “to support the war at all costs.”

“I was very surprised that not a single word was said about any peace plan,” the Slovak prime minister stressed.

The Fico-led government remains “peace-oriented” and will not provide weapons to Kiev, let alone send Slovak troops to its aid, he insisted. Bratislava’s help will instead be focused on civilian projects, a position that Fico said he had conveyed to other national leaders.

Macron argued in his post-meeting remarks that Kiev’s backers must “ratchet up” their support because “Russia must not win,” arguing that EU security was at stake.

The French leader cited the escalation of Western military aid to Ukraine – from “helmets and sleeping bags” to long-range missiles and fighter jets – to explain why the reluctance over a direct military confrontation with Russia may change in the future.

”We are determined to do everything necessary for as long as necessary. That is the key takeaway from this evening,” Macron declared.

Moscow perceives the Ukraine conflict as a US-initiated proxy war on Russia, in which Ukraine and EU nations are forced to pay the price. Fico is among the European politicians to have openly questioned the Western approach and its rationale.

Pentagon clears itself of wrongdoing

An internal probe of US defense chief Lloyd Austin’s failure to reveal his hospitalization has found no “ill intent”

An internal Pentagon review of the secrecy surrounding US defense chief Lloyd Austin’s hospitalization last month has determined that while communication processes should be improved, there was no serious wrongdoing by senior officials.

“Nothing examined during this review demonstrated any indication of ill intent or an attempt to obfuscate,” the Pentagon said on Monday in a declassified summary of its 30-day investigation of the incident. Several measures have been adopted to ensure a smooth chain of command, and those steps were deployed when Austin was again hospitalized earlier this month for an “emergent bladder issue.”

Freedom of Speech and CV-19 Vaccines

Why France’s New “Anti-Vax Law” is MUCH Worse Than You Think

Kit Knightly

Last week France passed a new law, “to strengthen the fight against sectarian abuses and improve the support of victims.” .

This was widely covered in the alt-media as a “law criminalizing anti-mRNA vaccine speech”, but that is not quite true and was thoroughly “fact-checked” by the usual suspects.

(In fact the original misconception was probably deliberately cultivated so it could be fact-checked, that’s the way these things usually work).

Either way, by accident or design, there was a lot of talk about what the law doesn’t say, and not nearly enough about what it does say.

The law itself makes no specific mention of any health care treatment. The truth is it has almost nothing to do with banning criticism of vaccines.

…It’s potentially more dangerous than that. It’s a vague law, and vague laws are always the worst laws…

The people of the US and the EU need to rise up before they are personally dragged into a war

'''Fire Jens Stoltenberg now before it is too late

NATO is risking a wider war'''

by Stephen Bryen February 25, 2024

Jens Stoltenberg, a former Norwegian Prime Minister and now Secretary General of NATO should be fired now, before it is too late. He announced he is giving Ukraine “permission” to use its soon to be delivered F-16s to launch attacks inside Russia.

This is equivalent to a NATO declaration of war. It is an irrational and dangerous move that needs to be quashed as soon as possible.

Not only is Stoltenberg an uber hawk, but he totally misunderstands NATO’s purpose. If he is allowed to stay in office, he will lead NATO into a European war that might well include nuclear weapons. Above all, Stoltenberg doesn’t grasp that NATO is a defensive, not an offensive, alliance.

NATO has been drifting in the wrong direction for years. It has got involved in wars outside of NATO’s defensive domain, based on a rude sort of politics that gratifies the US and Europe’s otherwise inert and short sighted leaders. These wars, that now include Ukraine, are draining NATO’s defenses and weakening the core responsibility of the alliance, which is to protect the territory of its members.

There are no provisions in the NATO Treaty authorizing offensive, outside-the-boundary operations.

Now the Russians are saying that many of the so-called “mercenaries” in Ukraine are, in fact, highly trained NATO soldiers. They wear Ukrainian uniforms with national patches identifying them. They are “necessary” to operate the high tech weapons NATO has sent to Ukraine. When the Russians recently took over Avdiivka they found bodies of these mercenaries, some American and some Poles.

Earlier, they killed at least 60 French mercenaries in a hotel in Kharkiv.

Attack that killed French mercenaries, according to Russia, in Kharkiv on January 16, 2024.

The French denounced the attack saying it was disinformation. But the French also called in the Russian ambassador to complain about French deaths in Ukraine.

The Ukraine war is being rapidly turned into a NATO war, not only through the supply of intelligence, troop training and armaments, but the supply of experienced technicians. It is simply impossible for Ukraine to operate air defense systems such as Patriot and NASAMs, rocket launching systems like HIMARS, or support British and French Storm Shadow cruise missiles, without considerable outside assistance.

Most of the deaths of NATO personnel are covered up. When they are reported at all, they generally say that the “volunteer” was providing medical assistance.

Now the Russians are starting to believe that the F-16s delivered to Ukraine (probably operational by early summer) will be operated by NATO pilots.

The Russians make this claim based on their own past performance. Russia dressed their pilots up in Chinese outfits to fly Mig-15s in the Korean war. In the war of attrition in 1970 between Egypt and Israel, Russian pilots flew missions, sometimes openly (as only Russians could fly the Mig-25) and sometimes pretending they were Egyptian pilots…

PRE-PLANNED: Weeks before COVID was even announced, Moderna shipped mRNA “vaccine” prototypes to UNC scientists for evaluation

02/26/2024 // Ethan Huff // 3.3K Views

Before the world had even heard of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), Prof. Ralph Baric, PhD, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) knew about it, having received prototype mRNA (modRNA) "vaccines" from none other than Moderna.

Newly unearthed documents that were supposed to remain confidential show that Cambridge, Mass.-based Moderna sent the prototype vials to UNC several weeks before COVID was announced to the world. Baric signed the material transfer agreement for them on Dec. 12, 2019, followed by a signature from Jacqueline Quay, Director of Licensing and Innovation Support at UNC, on Dec. 16, 2019.

Two representatives from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the federal agency that was then headed up by Tony Fauci under the umbrella of the then-Francis Collins-led National Institutes of Health (NIH), also signed the agreement. One was Amy F. Petrik, PhD, a technology transfer specialist, and the other was Barney Graham, MD, PhD, an investigator.

On Dec. 17, 2019, the final signatories of the agreement were Sunny Himansu, Moderna's investigator, and Shaun Ryan, Moderna's deputy general counsel.

"All of these signatures were made prior to any knowledge of the alleged emergence of the novel coronavirus," notes The Exposé (United Kingdom).

"It wasn't until December 31st 2019 that the World Health Organisation (WHO) became aware of an alleged cluster of viral pneumonia cases in Wuhan, China. But even at this point, they had not determined that an alleged new coronavirus was to blame, instead stating the pneumonia was of 'unknown cause.'"
