A Moscow man was arrested for allegedly accepting payment from Ukrainian intelligence to plant an explosive on Tucker Carlson's vehicle, targeting the American journalist during his interview with Putin.

Clickbait merchants on X advance a baseless Tucker Carlson assassination attempt narrative

Social media is ablaze with popular pundits and commentators declaring that a Russian man attempted to assassinate the famed journalist Tucker Carlson while he was in Moscow to interview Russian president Vladimir Putin.

The video in question was first posted to a just-launched YouTube channel translated from Russian as “counterterrorism,” which features Russian military forces interrogating claimed Ukrainian security and intelligence officials.Notably, all of the videos on the channel were uploaded within the last day.

In the above video, a Moscow-based man named Vasiliev claims he accepted four thousand dollars from Ukrainian intelligence services to plant a bomb on Tucker Carlson's vehicle while it was parked at The Four Seasons in Moscow. He adds that the plot was foiled because he was “detained in the preparation stage” by Russian police.

This unsourced, unvetted, unconfirmed, unalleged (through official channels) allegationhas somehow made its way into the greater media atmosphere.

Check out the traffic the video is receiving on X (impressions are listed in the bottom right hand corner).

Others pointed to a website called The Intel Drop as the source of the material. Upon further review, the claimed Iceland-based website has no sources for its information. The commentary on the website comes from an anti-U.S. and pro-Moscow perspective.

Millions and millions of people have now seen the video and the captions that go above and beyond the evidence available to claim there was a genuine attempt on Tucker Carlson’s life.

But again, all we have to show for the allegation is a guy named Vasiliev in an undisclosed location saying he got 4 grand from the Ukrainians to blow up Tucker Carlson’s vehicle, in a video that was posted to YouTube yesterday.

Should the Russians (whose officials were apparently interrogating the man) publicly back the accusation of a bomb plot, it might be worth scrutinizing.

Sadly, the clickbait merchants of X and other social media sites are incentivized to post the most sensationalist nonsensethey can, so that they can pump of their monetization numbers. The incentives are all screwed up, and the truth and/or clarifying perspectives gets lost in the noise of a manufactured clickbait hysteria.

The Dossier has been highly critical on the effort to support the unlimited U.S. taxpayer-funded slush fund that’s been allocated for the Ukrainian-Russian war. But those criticisms are grounded in facts, not random YouTube videos without even a modicum of credibility.

Vladimir Lenin is attributed with inventing the term “useful idiot.” And there are a whole lot of useful western idiots doing the bidding of bolstering a foreign government’s moral and geopolitical claims in exchange for a few Elon bucks.

Ron Paul: After Two Years, Neocons Desperate For More War in Ukraine

In a recent CNN interview, the normally very confident US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland sounded a little desperate. She was trying to make the case for Congress to pass another $61 billion dollars for the neocons’ proxy war project in Ukraine and she was throwing out the old slogans that the neocons use when they want funding for their latest war.

Asked by CNN whether she believes that Congress will eventually pass the bill, Nuland responded that she has confidence that, “we will do what we have always done, which is defend democracy and freedom around the world…”

What Nuland is attempting here is what the neocons always do. They try to wrap their terrible policies up in the American flagand sell it to the American people as something reflective of “our” values. If you oppose another neocon war, well then you are unpatriotic according to their trickery.

But Americans are waking up to the lies of the neocons and more and more are realizing that there is no “we” when the neocons are trying to sell another war. It is “them.” The “we” in the equation are the people who are being robbed to pay for what will inevitably be another neocon failure.

Does any American still believe that Washington was “defending democracy and freedom” when it used a pack of lies to get us into Iraq, where a country was destroyed and perhaps a million people were killed? How about when, after 20 years in Afghanistan, we managed to replace the Taliban…with the Taliban? And Syria and Libya and all the other interventions?

Was Washington “defending democracy” when Nuland and the rest of the neocons successfully overthrew a democratically elected government in Ukraine in 2014?

It’s getting harder and harder for the American people to choke down the war lies of the neocons. That is something that should make us feel optimistic. In the same interview, Nuland said she was confident that when House Members return to session next week, “after they’ve been out in their districts hearing from the American people,” they will vote to send the $61 billion to Ukraine.

Looking at public opinion polls, however, it is far more likely that any Member meeting with constituents during the break will hear the opposite. It is likely they will hear a demand that not another penny be spent on the brutal, futile, and disastrous Ukraine war. According to a Harris poll taken earlier this month, some 70 percent of Americans want talks to end the Ukraine.

Americans no longer support the neocon war project in Ukraine. That is something to celebrate.

Perhaps in a last show of desperation, Victoria Nuland debuted another argument for keeping the war money flowing for Ukraine. She said, “we have to remember that the bulk of this money is going right back into this economy to make those weapons…”

Is this supposed to be attractive to the American people?The middle class and the poor are being destroyed by inflation and squeezed by a debased currency so that the wealthy, politically-connected weapons manufacturers can get even richer? Instead of money to rebuild this country and protect its borders, Americans should be thrilled to see their hard work go up in smoke, literally, in Ukraine?

(PS: USAID has funded billions and billions to Ukraine for 12-15 years, why not do it on the sly? To humiliate and cower American citizens opposition to war?)

Fani Willis Braces for Potentially Damning Testimony From Key Witness

Testimony by Nathan Wade's attorney, Terrence Bradley, could have a "dramatic" impact on Fani Willis as her ethics hearing continues, legal experts believe.

Earlier this month Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, gave evidence in a two-day hearing following accusations by former Trump staffer and co-defendant Michael Roman that she was having an affair with Wade, a special prosecutor she hired in the high-profile case. It was also alleged the pair had benefited financially from taxpayers' money.

Willis and Wade later admitted they had a relationship but denied a conflict of interest. The timeline of their relationship, however, has emerged as a key point of contention, with Roman saying it started earlier than they admitted and Trump's lawyers examining phone records alleging the pair were in a relationship before the Georgia election-fraud case began. Newsweek contacted Willis via LinkedIn for comment.

Willis is running the case against Trump and 18 others who are accused in a 41-count indictment of trying to overturn his 2020 election loss in Georgia.

The former president pleaded not guilty to all 13 charges against him and has said the case is politically motivated because he is the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination.

In the latest development in Willis' hearing, Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee's chambers notified attorneys in the case by email on Monday thatcertain communications Bradley had with Wade are not protected by attorney-client privilege, as he had previously argued, and called on him to testify again, according to sources speaking to ABC News.(The judge actually question if Bradley knew what “attorney-client privilege was. If Bradley gives evidence claiming that Wade and Willis' relationship began earlier than they said it did, and it is found they lied under oath, it could significantly impact the case.

Law professor Anthony Michael Kreis wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Terrance Bradley has information from things he saw that backdate the Willis-Wade relationship—could be generic impressions or damning.

"Tomorrow is going to be dramatic. We may learn a lot of new facts. It may a total dud. Somebody definitely hasn't been treating this with the utmost candor. But that's all we can probably say."

Law journalist Anna Bower said the hearing could "be the most consequential moment" in the case.

Legal analyst Jonathan Turley called it "a significant development."

The testimony will come after Trump's team subpoenaed Wade's phone records to allegedly show he was sleeping at Willis' home in September and November 2021. Trump's lawyers hired a private investigator, Charles Mittelstadt, to investigate phone calls made between Wade and Willis.

The lawyers wrote in their filing: "The prosecution will surely point out that nobody knows what was happening in the house between midnight and 3:28 a.m. on September 12, or between midnight and 5:00 a.m. on November 30. Mittelstadt does not claim to know. Neither does President Trump or any other defendant in this case.

"Only two people know. They are certainly the ones who should testify and say exactly what was happening on those occasions, so nobody will complain about improper speculation, or improper efforts to distort the truth, or nefarious contacts with the media."
