The interest on our national debt is already at $1 trillion per year (and growing) so it is consuming 40% of all personal taxes.
The interest on the debt is growing MUCH faster than the rate of growth in tax revenue. It is plausible that 100% of personal income taxes will be consumed by interest payments on the debt by 2035 or so.
