Torrey Pines was an awesome race track. The first postwar V12's from Ferrari raced there as did the year of introduction Corvette and Thunderbirds (neither finished).
I saw Phil Hill win by two laps in a 212, I think in 1952. They had a glider club there with an automobile engine pulling the launching rope. The race course was right along the bluffs and we'd watch the gliders ride the updraft when the racing was slow. Beautiful place.
