Time lines are not what they seem.

In 1928, John Wayne, a 21-year-old bit-part actor at Fox Film Corporation, met Wyatt Earp, a retired Old West lawman, on the set of one of the new "oaters" - Westerns. Wayne credited his walk, talk, and persona to his acquaintance with Earp, who had actually done the things in his life that he was trying to do in a movie.1 Earp acted as an adviser on the film, giving it an air of authenticity. Wayne later became one of the most popular film actors of the 20th century, and with the help of the famed lawman, Earp, he created the model for the iconic hero of the American West.
