#OTD in 1836, Davy Crockett died at the Alamo. His descendant Lt. Davy Crockett was a U.S. Navy Hellcat pilot during WWII. After being shot down and captured in France in 1944, Crockett was taken to Toulon where the German commander surrendered the arsenal and 500 men to him.
