Why do we need to save daylight in the Summer when there's more daylight in the Summer?

So in the Winter the clocks get set back so that it isn't dark in the morning when people are going to school or work. So why isn't Winter called Daylight Savings? Why is Summer called Daylight savings? That is my question.
