US threatens EU bank with sanctions – media

Washington has reportedly warned Austria’s banking giant Raiffeisen over its operations in Russia

Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank International, the biggest foreign lender in Russia, risks “being cut off from the US financial system” if it is found to have helped fund Russia’s military, according to the US Treasury Department, as cited by Reuters.

“As part of Washington’s renewed push on sanctions, it would encourage Austrian banks to examine their Russian exposure and ‘take mitigation measures’,”US top Treasury official Anna Morris said earlier this week.

Raiffeisen has confirmed discussions with the US on potential sanctions for doing business in Russia, the EUobserver news website reported on Saturday.

The banking giant did not provide further details, saying that it does not usually “comment publicly on discussions with representatives of authorities, as a matter of principle.”

Raiffeisen is one of the last major Western lenders still operating in Russia. The bank is one of only two foreign banks on the Russian central bank’s list of 13 systemically important credit institutions, the other being Italy’s UniCredit. Dutch lender ING, Germany’s Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank, Hungary’s OTP Bank, Italy’s Intesa SanPaolo, and Sweden’s SEB also retain a presence on the Russian market.

Last year, the Austrian lender announced plans to spin off its Russian business by September, following mounting pressure from Western governments. The RBI Group that owns the bank has been resisting demands from the US and EU to speed up its Russia exit. The European Central Bank (ECB) has also been pressuring the lender to quit the Russian market.

US Treasury officials have also briefed German financiers on the new sanctions threat, according to Commerzbank, which conducts corporate banking for mostly German companies active in Russia, as cited by EUobserver.

When asked if it feared potential US penalties, the German lender said it “treats sanctions compliance with the utmost importance and has taken risk-based measures to reduce its Russia-related sanctions risk exposure.”

Meanwhile, ING told the news outlet that the new US rules meant “banks can be sanctioned or denied access to the US-dollar clearing system for a certain period of time, provided the bank has facilitated significant transactions that benefited the Russian military branch.”The Dutch bank, however, sees no risk, as it “complies with all international sanctions laws including UN, EU, and OFAC.”

Bidan regime ruins US economy now they go after other countries to do the same. When are EU countries going to be concerned with the people and state, then supporting a failed state? This is why US Presidents and Generals said after WWII we should never fight a war in Europe again.

Diplomats believe NATO should prepare for US exit – Telegraph

Envoys from Europe and beyond believe a Donald Trump reelection could lead to Washington quitting the bloc, the newspaper claims

NATO could face a serious risk of the US leaving the alliance if Donald Trump is reelected in November, The Telegraph said on Saturday, citing several diplomats from the bloc’s member states. Europe’s NATO countries should develop some strategy to deal with the consequences of such an eventuality and reconsider the bloc’s defense capabilities, they warn.

The possibility of America’s withdrawal is a “concern,” one European diplomat told the paper. “Nobody knows what he’s going to do next,” he said, referring to Trump.

The former president secured the nomination in the Republican primaries earlier this week as he swept 14 out of 15 states at stake on Super Tuesday and got 995 Republican convention delegates’ votes. His only opponent, Nikki Haley, dropped out of the race for the GOP nomination soon thereafter.

He is now expected to face off against President Joe Biden in November since the incumbent American leader also came out on top in the Democratic primaries.

Earlier, several former senior US officials claimed that a Trump White House could make America withdraw from NATO. Former US Defense SecretaryMark Espermade such a prediction in December 2023. According to him, Trump could start pulling US forces out of NATO countries, potentially causing “the collapse of the alliance.” Reuters also reported on such a possibility at that time.

In mid-February, Trump’s former national security adviser,John Bolton, made a similar statement. “NATO would be in real jeopardy,”he said, adding that Trump “would try to get out.”

A European diplomat said that the rest of the bloc should “do the planning” for a scenario in which Trump follows through on such plans or just weakens America’s commitment to NATO. “Preparations need to be in place,” the paper’s source added. (Why haven’t they planned to defend themselves from the beginning?)

Another official described NATO as “so overdependent on the US.” A “discussion” on hedging against risks of a US withdrawal was “necessary,” this person added. A third source quoted by the paper said European nations should check the adequacy of their own “defense planning” amid such risks.

In the UK, similar concerns were previously voiced by Lord Kim Darroch, a former British ambassador to the US and a prime minister’s national security adviser.“If I were an officialin any prime minister’s office around Europe,I would be commissioning the experts in government to start doing some contingency thinking about how a NATO without the United Stateswould look and function – just in case,”he said in a piece he wrote for Prospect last month.

Trump himself has not made any comment lately about leaving the alliance. Instead, he said in February that he would not “protect”those NATO members that fall short of the 2% spending threshold in case of an attack, including by Russia.

Speaking at a campaign rally in South Carolina on February 10, he recalled what he described as a conversation with “the president of a big country” in Europe. When allegedly asked whether he would rush to the nation’s aid in case of an attack by Moscow, Trump said that if this nation hadn’t spent enough on defense, he “would encourage [Russia] to do whatever the hell they want” to it.

=Moscow itself has repeatedly denied any plans to attack a NATO member, adding that starting a global war would go against “common sense.”

Nobody wants to send troops to Ukraine – Germany

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has categorically rejected the French president’s suggestion

(But they are already there, no matter what they want)

Discussions about NATO boots on the ground in Ukraine need to end, because nobody actually wants that to happen, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on Friday.

Pistorius was in Finland to visit the German troops taking part in NATO’s Nordic Response wargames in the Arctic Circle. While there, he held a joint press conference with his Finnish counterpart Antti Hakkanen.

“Nobody really wants to have boots on the ground in Ukraine,” Pistorius said, responding to a question about recent remarks made by French President Emmanuel Macronsuggesting that the matter was open-ended.

Discussions about that “should stop,” he added.

“Nobody isnow supporting‘boots on the ground’,” Hakkanen agreed.

Macron said last week that no option should be ruled out, including ground troops, because Russia can’t be allowed to win. Only two Baltic states endorsed the idea, however, with most other NATO members publicly denouncing it.

Pistorius argued that what the West needs to do instead is ramp up the delivery of ammunition and equipment to the Ukrainian military.

“Germany is the second-largest supporter of Ukraine world wide,” donating €7.5 billion ($8.2 billion) this year alone, Pistorius noted, adding that Berlin has sent “air defense, artillery, ammunition, what[ever] Ukraine needs.”

Addressing questions about Germany’s decision not to send Ukrainie its long-range Taurus missiles, Pistorius said that would be a step too far.

“We always emphasize that long-range missiles won’t decide that war,” he told reporters, adding that Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said “there is one decisive line we never will cross, and this is being participants, being party to the war.”

Last week, RT published an audio recordingand a transcript of a conversation between senior German Luftwaffe (air force) officers from mid-February, in which they discussed the use of Taurus missiles to destroy the Crimean Bridge. The generals assumed the missiles would be delivered and tried to come up with ways of helping Ukraine use them while maintaining plausible deniability.

Russia has repeatedly warned the US and its allies that deliveries of weapons to Ukraine will not prevent Moscow from achieving the goals of its military operation, and will only serve to prolong the fighting and increase the risk of a direct confrontation with NATO.

‘We shouldn’t have gone into Ukraine’ – Biden

The US president has again confused Washington’s Eastern European ally with Iraq

In another of his gaffes, Joe Biden has said that Washington made a mistake by going into Ukraine. The US president was actually talking about a different country in another part of the world.

In the course of an interview with MSNBC on Saturday, Biden was criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that by ignoring civilian casualties during the IDF’s military operation in Gaza, he was “hurting Israel more than he’s helping Israel.”According to the latest data from the Gaza health ministry, 31,045 people have been killed and 72,654 others wounded since October 7, after which the IDF began its attacks on the Palestinian enclave in response to the Hamas incursion into Israel, in which an estimated 1,200 people lost their lives and over 200 were taken hostage.

Biden recalled how, during his visit to Israel early in the conflict, he had warned Netanyahu against making a “mistake” that the US made after 9/11.

“America made a mistake. We went after Osama bin Laden until we got him, but we shouldn’t have gone into Ukraine…” the 81-year-old said.

The president quickly corrected himself, saying: “We shouldn’t have gone into the whole thing in Iraq and Afghanistan.” Those military campaigns by the US “caused more problems than they cured,” he added.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova infused the subject with a little sarcasm and said Moscow actually disagreed with the reporting in the media, that Biden had simply confused Ukraine with Iraq and Afghanistan.

“He didn’t mix it up. He can no longer retain to himself what everyone understands – the US have disgraced themselvesin the bloodiest manner with the whole Ukrainian project,” she wrote on Telegram on Sunday.

After repelling Ukraine’s counteroffensive last year, Russian forces have been steadily improving frontline positions, capturing the strategic stronghold of Adveevka in Russia’s People’s Republic of Donetsk last month, and several other settlements.

Washington has been Ukraine’s primary backer since the escalation to armed confrontation in February 2022 of long-simmering conflicts between Moscow and Kiev, and has provided over $111 billion in military and financial assistance. However, in recent months, US aid has subsided drastically as the Biden administration struggles to overcome Republicans’ resistance to its efforts at pushing through another $60-billion in aid for Ukraine.

It’s not the first time that Biden has confused countries and places. In June, he said that “Putin is losing the war in Iraq.” In a more recent blunder, he said a week ago that the US and partners were discussing “airdrops of food and supplies into Ukraine,” while actually meaning proposed airdrops into Gaza.

(why do they even let him talk?just get a robot to speak. Shit this is humiliating. I hope the citizens of the world know we didn’t elect this utter embarrassment.)

Judge’s NEW WORDS have liberals petrified that one of Jack Smith’s sham cases is about to be tossed… Mar. 10, 2024 1/2

These days, the regime’s loyalists are in a state of sheer terror, all sparked by some recent remarks from a judge in the Trump classified documents case. Judge Cannon seems to be dropping hints that the case against President Trump might just be thrown out, sending liberals into a frenzy.

The sham legal actions against President Trump turn our justice system into a laughingstock, but this case really takes the cake. It’s especially ironic considering Joe Biden’s “classified documents” scandal was way worse, yet he’s somehow considered too “senile and out of it” to face trial – but he can still for President of The United States?

Say what?

The double standards couldn’t be more glaring and comical.

Raw Story:

Judge Aileen Cannon has described two recent filings — both in support of former President Donald Trump’s motion to dismiss his confidential document case— as helpful, spurring concerns among legal experts and those closely following the case.

Cannon filed to the Florida federal court Wednesday apaperless order accepting two amicus briefs, one from the America First Legal Foundation and one from former Reagan era Attorney General Ed Meese, calling on the Florida federal judge to dismiss charges against Trump, court records show.

“The Court has reviewed the motions” Cannon writes, “andfinds that the proposed amici bring to the Court’s attention relevant matter that may be of considerable help to the Court in resolving the cited pretrial motions.”

Regime hack, Andrew Weissman is sweating bullets over this latest “court commentary.” The Raw Story goes on:

Former federal prosecutor and frequent MSNBC commentator Andrew Weissmann immediately expressed his concern.

“Ok to take amicus,” Weissmann wrote on X.“But the commentary from the court is worrisome.”

Cannon gives special counselJack Smith— who has charged Trump with 37 counts that include willful retention of national defense information —until March 15 to respond to the briefs.

The first of the two briefs was brought by America First, a nonprofit organization run by former Trump aide Stephen Miller with a professed focus on fighting “anti-white bigotry” and a speciality in launching culture war lawsuits against the Biden administration, according to reporting from the Daily Beast.

Andrew has reason to be worried. See, the problem here is that these insane court filings and sham indictments flow through their hand-picked liberal courts like lava. However, when you start getting higher up the food chain, they start running into trouble. Now, that’s not to say that Trump is on Easy St. but, if the Supreme Court sticks to the Constitution and doesn’t go all “activist,” or try and play the “fair and balanced” game, then Trump has a decent shot of winning some victories.

Yet, someone like Weissmann is never going to view it from any other perspective. His vision is permanently clouded by a deep-rooted loathing for anyone bold enough to upset the regime’s applecart. Andrew’s blatant bias and terminal case of TDS stretch far beyond the Mueller investigation. He was the so-called “mastermind” behind the scenes of the Russia hoax. This clip from last January, where the MSNBC “fat guy” floats the idea of Biden launching a preemptive strike on Mar-a-Lago, captures Weissmann sitting there, sporting a ghoulish Deep State grin…

2/2

Following the Supreme Court’s rightful decision to maintain President Trump’s spot on the ballot, Weissmann remarked, “Nobody is coming to rescue us. It’s on us now.” It seems like he’s cast himself in his own version of “World of Warcraft,” where he’s the heroic knight facing off against the formidable ogre, Trump. It’s pathetic to watch a grown man behave this way.

MSNBC:

Andrew Weissmann, former top prosecutor for the Justice Department and Charlie Sykes, MSNBC Columnist join Nicolle Wallace on Deadline White House to break down the Supreme Court being willing to hear the Trump Presidential Immunity argument which will likely delay any of Donald Trump’s federal trials past election day, all but confirming that the conservative leaning court is doing the former President’s bidding.

Weissmann’s been on the receiving end of quite the beating lately. With his entire Russia narrative falling apartat the seams, and his attempts to see President Trump “convicted” before the 2024 election running into one roadblock after another, it’s hard to imagine he’s getting much rest. Honestly, if there’s anyone who’s earned a night of fitful, sweat-soaked tossing and turning, it’s this Deep State architect.
