Fox 3 is a code used by the US Air Force to indicate the firing of an active radar-guided air-to-air missile, such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM.
Prior to the advent of active radar homing missiles, the code 'Fox 3' referred to the use of guns or cannons, such as the M61 Vulcan.
