I think it has to do with getting up and going to work as soon as the sun comes up.

The sun comes up earlier in the summer, so might as well get up and start the day. Then after work, there is still a lot of daylight left to enjoy.

Why not have the extra hours of daylight at the end of the day, after work, when it can be enjoyed.

An extra hour of daylight before work is not as much fun as an extra hour of daylight after work.

That's all I can think of.

And the Winter just sucks, and all of the day light hours are spent working, especially the further away from the equator one lives.

I recall many years ago, the clocks didn't change in the winter and people were complaining that their kids had to go to school in the dark. Kids get out of school early so coming home wasn't a problem, just getting there was a problem.
