Two employees working for Canada’s auditor general have been fired for not disclosing money they received through government contracts, with a third now under police investigation.

Spokesperson for the Office of the Auditor General Natasha Leduc confirmed that three of its own employees had undeclared contracts within the Government of Canada.

Two were fired. The Ottawa Police Service and the Office of the Auditor General say they are investigating the third employee who was recently discovered to be covertly holding contracts with a separate arm of the federal government.

Inquiries into the two fired employees came as a result of a contract worth almost $8 million given to them to work on the ArriveCan app. Leduc said the investigations span back to the summer.

“The (Office of the Auditor General) conducted its own investigations in both cases. The investigations began in June 2023 and concluded in September in one case and December in the other. Based on the results of the investigations, the OAG revoked the individual’s security clearance and terminated employment,” said Leduc. Continue…

RCAF in freefall, no longer able to train fighter pilots at home

Canada turns to foreign countries to train fighter pilots.

The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) has announced they’ll no longer train fighter pilots to operate CF18s, saying their training contract with CAE Inc. has ended, and stating that they’re eight years away from getting F35s.

Instead of renewing their training contract, the RCAF will have their CF18s receive some required maintenance, and members will turn to the US and Europe for training help through their T-38 program.

The RCAF is calling the gap an “interim or ‘bridge’ training program.”

The bridge program will see “Canadian fighter pilots conduct their initial fighter training through the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, and other Fighter Lead-in Training (FLIT) programs in Finland and at Italy’s International Flight Training School, where Canada will have two instructors and six students by 2025,” the RCAF stated.

The news comes on the same week that the federal Liberals awarded a Calgary-based aerospace company, Arcfield Canada, with a $211 million contract to “help sustain Canada’s fleet of CF-18 fighters.”

Canada’s Minister of Defence, Bill Blair, said the contract with Arcfield Canada will “ensure that our Royal Canadian Air Force’s fighter fleet can meet its operational commitments.”

An Alberta butcher who tore apart and burned a woman’s body, earning the moniker “Satan’s helper,” has avoided jail time for his barbarous act.

Joseph Skelly pleaded guilty last Dec. 19 to dismembering and disposing of Treasa Lynn Oberly’s body after she was murdered. He was officially charged with causing indignity to a dead body.

Skelly’s son, Kenneth Skelly, is charged with second degree murder in that crime. He was Oberly’s boyfriend.

In her victim’s statement, Oberly’s mother castigated Joseph Skelly, a retired 69-year-old butcher from Beaumont, Alta. “You are Satan’s helper, and you will live with Satan when you die. I wish nothing but for you to be miserable for the rest of your life.”

She said Skelly misused her daughter’s body “like a piece of trash.”

Justice John Little last Thursday sentenced Skelly to a two-year conditional sentence based on his degradation of Oberly’s corpse. He will served 12 moths of house arrest, followed by a curfew.

The prosecution had demanded three-and-a-half years of jail time.

Kenneth Skelly is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 16.
