So what we've learned from the TikTok saga is that if you create an app that is superb at social manipulation/tracking, you will be attacked by the government, who wish to own a monopoly on social manipulation/tracking. We still don't know exactly how proficient this app is, and why it has been singled out vs others like X and instagram. Perhaps those platforms are already completely controlled by local governments, in which case free speech is a farce in today's world. The media generalizes government's concerns over TikTok as 'spying', but they never delve into exactly how the app is so bad, and why the government is so focused on it.
