EU can ‘f*** off’ with its gold demand – Russia’s ex-president

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling on Moscow to return gold sent to the Russian Empire by Romania in 1916

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has vehemently rejected the EU’s demand that Moscow return gold that it claims belongs to Romania, describing it as “impudence.”

On Thursday, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on Moscow to send back 91.5 metric tons of gold and cultural artifacts that were exported to the Russian Empire in 1916-1917 by Romania.

Writing on his social media page on Friday, Medvedev, who currently serves as the deputy chairman of Russia’s National Security Council, stated that “I don’t even know how to respond to such impudence.”

”The EU has stolen $300 billion worth of Russian assets and is now demanding that Russia return gold to Romania. There is nothing to say except f*** off,” Medvedev wrote.

Previously, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova had pointed out that in 1935, the USSR had already returned a portion of the valuables to Romania as a “sign of good will.” She also recalled that the Soviet Union had forgiven Romania all of its debts for the “troubles and destruction” that it caused in Russia during World War II,when Bucharest was an ally of Nazi Germany.

That was “despite all the atrocities that Hitler’s Romanian allies committed on our land. And this is no less than $300 million in reparations, i.e., if converted to today’s money, it would be something in the region of $4 billion,”Zakharova wrote on her official Telegram channel.

The spokeswoman went on to state that if these Romanian debts to Russia and the Soviet Union were expressed in terms of bullion, they would be equivalent to 1,365–1,665 tons of gold, which is “20-25 times more than Romania’s entire gold reserve that was sent to Russia in 1916-1917.”

Zakharova claimed that Romania was now using “Russophobic platforms, such as the European Parliament, which is ready forany excuse to force onto us its century-old phantom debts.”

She suggested that Bucharest’s demand may be part of a desperate attempt to fix the “deplorable situation” in Romania’s “national economy, against the backdrop of farm strikes throughout the country.”

‘Neo-Nazi Kiev regime’ tried to disrupt Russian elections – Putin

Russia’s president has vowed retaliation for the ongoing Ukrainian attacks on border regions

The continuingUkrainian attacks and strikes on the Russian border regions are primarily aimed at disrupting the ongoing electionin the country, President Vladimir Putin has said.

The president made the remarks on Friday during a meeting with permanent members of the Russian National Security Council. Putin condemned the efforts taken by Kiev to disrupt the ongoing election, vowing retaliation for the attacks.

In order to disrupt the voting process and intimidate people, at least in the regions bordering Ukraine, theKiev neo-Nazi regime has conceived and is trying to carry out a series of “demonstrative criminal armed actions,” Putin stated.

The effort includes continuous indiscriminate drone and artillery strikes, as well as a concentrated effort to breach the country’s border, launched by Ukrainian forces earlier this week, the president explained, describingKiev’s actions as “senseless from the military, and criminal from a humanitarian, standpoint.”

The escalation may also serve as a PR stunt for Kiev, to show the Ukrainian public and its Western backers some military gains, Putin suggested. As for trying to intimidate the Russian people, the Ukrainian leadership will never achieve such a goal, with the country’s people responding to such actions only with “further consolidation,” he added.

“Another possible goal of such actions is to divert the attention of their own people and the public in other countries, whom theKiev regime is trying to beg for money and all sorts of handouts, to divert attention from the real situation on the front line,” the president said.

According to Moscow’s estimates, the Ukrainian military has deployed over 2,500 servicemen, some 35 tanks and around 40 other armored vehiclesto attack multiple locations along the border, Putin noted. All the attacks have been repelled, with the Ukrainians sustaining heavy personnel and material casualties.

(Wise guy) Macron comments on Trump presidency

The Republican candidate may not get a chance to deliver on his promise to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, the French leader believes

French President Emmanuel Macron has reflected on former US president Donald Trump's tenure and a possible future term in office, when asked who could potentially mediate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Macron called Moscow “an adversary,” but stopped short of declaring it an “enemy,”during an interview with the France 2 and TF1 TV channels on Thursday. He again refused to rule out NATO deployments in Ukraine, reiterating that Paris is ready to make any “decisions necessary to prevent Russia’s victory” – and noting that he sees no opportunities for negotiations with the Kremlin at this point.

“I am absolutely ready for discussions at any time, but we need someone sincere and peace-oriented to do that,” Macron said, adding that he hoped that the time would come one day to negotiate with a Russian president “whoever it might be.” (He’s insinuation and assassination on Putin.)

NotingMacron’s reluctance to engage in direct communications with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the interviewers wondered if the United States could potentially mediate such talks, especially if Donald Trump is reelected.

As far as I’m informed, I don’t think Donald Trump is President of the United States,” the French leader claimed, adding that he works with the leaders he gets. (That is a tell!)

At the same time Macron said there was “nothing personal” behind his decision to refrain from dialogue with Putin. “Undoubtedly, I am the head of the state that used to talk to him more than anyone else.”

Back in January, Macron said he would deal with whoever wins the US election, claiming “I’ve always had the same philosophy, I take the leaders that people give me.”

US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are set for a rematch in November, with recent polls showing Trump leading his incumbent rival by between two and nine percentage points. Trump has promised to end the Ukrainian conflict “in 24 hours” if voted back into office, without specifying how peace could be achieved. Meanwhile, Russia is holding its own presidential election this weekend, in which Vladimir Putin faces three opponents.
