A Democrat Tennesssee state senator has called for riots after Republican lawmakers passed a pro-police bill.

State Sen. Charlane Oliver was responding to the passing of legislation that prevents cities from restricting police officers from making certain types of traffic stops.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Oliver, co-founder of the social justice warrior activist group “the Equity Alliance,” vowed that “we’re gonna fight.”

“So yeah, we’re gonna fight,” Oliver said. “Dr. King said the riots are the language of the unheard. You [sic] ain’t seen nothing yet. If you keep silencing us like this, what do you think our districts [sic] gonna do?”

Niger has denounced “with immediate effect” a defense pact that allows Washington to operate a $100 million drone base==

Authorities in Niamey have decided to revoke an agreement with the US which allowed American military personnel and the Pentagon's civilian contractors to operate in the West African state, a spokesman for the post-coup government announced on national television.

“The National Council for the Protection of the Fatherland officially denounced… the military cooperation agreements linking the country to the United States of America,” spokesman Colonel Amadou Abdramane said in a statement on Saturday night.

The decision comes just days after a senior US delegation, which included the chief of US Africa Command, General Michael Langley, wrapped up a three-day visit to the African state. The US team met several top Nigerien officials, including PM Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine – apparently seeking to negotiate a renewal of the deal – but failed to secure a meeting with the country's leader, General Abdourahamane Tchiani.

“Niger regrets the intention of the American delegation to deny the sovereign Nigerien people the right to choose their partners and types of partnerships capable of truly helping them fight against terrorism,” Abdramane said. The spokesman added that the American delegation has behaved in breach of diplomatic protocols, and did not even inform the hosts about their agenda and the date of their arrival.

Niger’s new government, which has been in power since the ouster of pro-Western President Mohamed Bazoum last July, has taken a number of steps to cut ties with Niamey’s former military partners. The coup leaders have cited the Bazoum government’s alleged failure to combat Islamist terrorists in the Sahel, despite the presence of foreign forces, including French troops, as the reason for the military takeover.

France completed the withdrawal of its troops from Niger in December, after the leadership in Niamey cut ties with the former colonial rulers and ordered their forces to leave.

However, Washington said that disengagement from Niger was not an option for the US, claiming it will forge “pragmatic” relations with the new military authorities – despite joining France and other Western allies in suspending aid to Niamey.

The United States currently has around 648 troops in Niger, mostly stationed at a $100-million desert drone base in Agadez, after “repositioning” some of its servicemen from the capital Niamey back in September. Since then, US drone flights in Niger have been limited to intelligence-gathering purposes with armed “counterterrorism” missions largely remaining on hold, according to the Pentagon.

Pornhub Blocks Access in Texas After State-Mandated Digital ID Law

A new state laws calls for internet users to verify themselves with a government-issued ID, raising privacy and free speech concerns.

In response to a Texas state law mandating digital ID age verification, Pornhub, a highly trafficked adult content website, has ceased operations in the state as of Thursday.

Visitors to the site are now met with a detailed message from Pornhub criticizing the new legal requirement.

The message denounces the measure as “ineffective” and “haphazard.”

The adult entertainment brand is instead advocating for digital ID responsibilities to be shifted to the creators of internet-enabled devices, rather than individual websites.

The contentious law, HB 1181, was enacted last year by the state’s Republican-led Legislature. It obliges distributors of material “harmful to minors” to verify that their users are over 18, using either a government-issued ID or another reliable system based on public or private data, without keeping any identifying user information.

The digital verification with a government-issued ID opens up issues related to having to give up privacy in order to access a website.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, last month, initiated legal action against Pornhub’s parent company to enforce compliance with this law. He emphasized the state’s commitment to safeguarding children from pornographic content, threatening substantial civil penalties for non-compliance. Paxton stated, “Texas has a right to protect its children from the detrimental effects of pornographic content,” adding his eagerness to “hold any company accountable that violates our age verification laws intended to prevent minors from being exposed to harmful, obscene material on the internet.”

In November, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals validated the law, which imposes fines up to $10,000 daily, an additional $10,000 per day for illegally retaining user data, and $250,000 in cases where minors access explicit content due to these violations.

Israel steals 16 percent of Gaza's territory for 'buffer zone'

Using bulldozers and controlled demolitions, Israel has destroyed some 1,100 buildings in the zone so far

Israeli forces are destroying farmland and demolishing hundreds of homes as well as schools in Gaza to create an 800-meter buffer zone alongside the border with Israel, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on 16 March.

Palestinians would be barred from the zone, which Israeli officials claim is needed to allow Israelis to return to settlements surrounding Gaza, which were evacuated after the Hamas-led Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on 7 October.

Some 1,200 Israeli soldiers and civilians were killed during the Hamas attack, including many by Israeli forces themselves using helicopters, drones, and tanks. Israeli forces wished to prevent Hamas from taking captives back to Gaza.

The WSJ adds that plans for creating the buffer zone began in the first days of the war and would allow Israeli troops to see and stop anyone approaching the border.

Before 7 October, Israeli forces had already maintained a 350-meter buffer zone and often opened fire at Palestinians entering it to approach the border fence. Only farmers were allowed to enter the zone.

During protests in 2018, known as the “Great Return March,” Israeli snipers killed 214 Palestinians near the border fence.

The Israeli military declined to comment on the expanded buffer zone.

Shaul Arieli, a former Israeli colonel, said the creation of a permanent buffer zone inside Gaza would be illegal under international law because Israel would be occupying land beyond its recognized territory.

If the buffer zone is completed, Israel would effectively confiscate 16 percent of Gaza’s territory, according to geography professor Adi Ben Nun of Hebrew University.

Using bulldozers and controlled explosions, Israel has destroyed some 1,100 buildings, more than 40 percent of the estimated 2,800 in the proposed zone, Ben Nun says.

Israel is also creating a 320-meter-wide road that will effectively cut the Gaza Strip in two, dividing the north from the south. Israel forces have so far destroyed 150 buildings to build the road, Ben Nun added.

Israeli officials say the army will use the road to patrol Gaza until Israeli military operations are complete, which could last months or years.

Religious settlers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition have made clear their goal of conquering Gaza, forcibly expelling its 2.3 million Palestinian inhabitants, and establishing settlements for Jewish Israelis to live in their place.

The White House claims to oppose the buffer zone and has warned against any proposal that threatens the territorial integrity of the 225-kilometer-square enclave.

However, President Biden has taken no action to pressure Israel to end policies it publicly opposes, such as the killing of huge numbers of Palestinian civilians and blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza, which is creating a famine.

Police arrested 11 people and closed a restaurant after two human heads wrapped in cellophane were discovered at a hotel restaurant that had been serving human flesh.

A tip-off led police to the macabre discovery in Anambra, Nigeria, with 11 people being arrested and AK-47 guns and other weapons being seized.

Human flesh was apparently being sold as an expensive treat at the restaurant, with authorities saying that roasted human head was even on the menu.

"I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told that a lump of meat was being sold at N700, I was surprised," a pastor who had visited the eatery said.

"So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at such expensive price.

"What is this country turning into? Can you imagine people selling human flesh as meat," he added. "Seriously I’m beginning to fear people in this part of the world. "

Another local added to the Osun Defender newspaper: "I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel.

"So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery in the early hours of yesterday."

ISRAELI STRIKES HIT MOUNTAIN CHAIN ON SYRIAN-LEBANESE BORDER

A series of Israeli strikes hit Syria early on March 17, targeting a mountain chain located along the country’s border with Lebanon.

The official Syrian Arab News Agency, citing a statement from a military source, said that “the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan targeting a number of points in the southern region,” without specifying where.

It said that a soldier was wounded in the attack and reported “material losses”, adding that air defense systems shot down some of the missiles.

Later, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said in a report that “Israeli missiles” targeted a weapons depot belonging to the Syrian military and used by Lebanon’s Hezbollah in the al-Qalamoun mountain chain to the West of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Another site near an army base in the same area was also targeted, added the London-based monitoring group, reporting a fire at one of the sites.

The group, run by a single person, has regularly been accused by Syrian war analysts of false and inaccurate reporting, especially when it comes to Israeli attacks on Syria.

A day earlier, the SOHR and other pro-opposition news sources said that a rocket was launched from Syria towards the Golan Heights and Israel responded by firing missiles at a Syrian military site on al-Jumu’ hill in the western countryside of the southern governorate of Daraa. However, this was not confirmed by the Israeli military.

Israel has significantly escalated its attacks on Syria since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, targeting mainly SAA sites and personnel of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hezbollah and other affiliated forces.

Despite a recent increase in rocket attacks targeting the Golan Heights, Syria is yet to officially respond to Israel’s repeated attacks, likely to avoid a dangerous confrontation.

Trump announced on Thursday that the public must wait another three years or more before seeing material that must remain classified for national security reasons — more than five decades after Kennedy was killed Nov. 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas.

The National Archives released its last batch of more than 19,000 records on Thursday. But an undisclosed amount of material remains under wraps because Trump said the potential harm to U.S. national security, law enforcement or foreign affairs is “of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in immediate disclosure.”

He ordered the CIA and other agencies to take yet another look at each blacked-out section of their documents during the next three years to see what more can be released.

CIA spokesman Nicole de Haay said the agency has already released more than 99 percent of CIA information that was in the Kennedy assassination records collection. “CIA narrowly redacted information in rare instances only to protect CIA assets, officers and their families as well as intelligence methods, operations and partnerships that remain critical to the security of our nation,” she said.

Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics and author of a book about Kennedy, lamented that it might be 100 years post-assassination before everyone has a more complete picture of what happened. “I envy the scholars of, say, 2063,” Sabato said.

Three months ago, a Haaretz editorial warned that Israeli jails “must not become execution facilities for Palestinians”.

Israeli TV channels have been excitedly taking viewers on tours of detention centres, showing the appalling conditions Palestinians are kept in, as well as the psychological and physical abuse they are subjected to.

An Israeli judge recently called the makeshift cages in which Palestinians are held “unsuitable for humans”.

Remember, a large proportion of the 4,000 or so Palestinians taken hostage by Israel since 7 October – probably the vast majority – are civilians, like the men and boys paraded through Gaza’s streets or held in a stadium stripped of clothing before being dragged off to a dark cell in Israel.

RFK Jr To Name Sergey Brin's Ex-Wife As Running Mate: Report

After previously thinking NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rogers might be the right person to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr is now planning to select 38-year-old Nicole Shanahan, the wealthy ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, as his running mate. This according to a Saturday Mediaite report that cited "a source close to the campaign."

Shanahan is a Bay Area lawyer and tech entrepreneur who's been a Democratic Party benefactor and donated to Biden's 2020 campaign. In a February Times profile, she described herself as a "progressive through and through." Aside from opening her wallet, she has no political profile whatsoever, seemingly not even having spoken out or written about issues of the day.

Last week, the New York Times reported that, in addition to the NFL's Rogers, Kennedy was considering former Minnesota Gov and Predator co-star Jesse Ventura, among others. Mediaite's source said RFK Jr and Shanahan "align on numerous issues," including wariness about vaccines.

The source also candidly spotlighted what is likely the principal attraction: "The campaign is also looking for a candidate who can help finance the ballot access initiative.” The campaign says that effort comes with a $15 million price tag. With under eight months to the election, he's only on four ballots: Hawaii, Nevada, New Hampshire and Utah. Multiple states require the naming of a running mate before giving approval, which is why his decision is coming soon.

This leak doesn't exactly sound like a coordinated trial balloon, as a source close to the campaign proceeded to throw Shanahan under the bus:
