Houthis hit Israel for first time

The Israeli military has failed to intercept a cruise missile fired by the militants at the port of Eilat

Yemen’s Houthi militants have struck Israel with a cruise missile, marking the first time that one of the group’s projectiles has reached the Jewish state. The strike follows repeated efforts by the US and UK to destroy Houthi launch sites.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Tuesday evening that it tracked a “suspicious aerial target” that entered Israeli airspace and struck an open area near the Red Sea port city of Eilat.

The IDF then confirmed that the target in question was a cruise missile, and that no casualties or damage occurred. The Houthis later claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Houthis have launched repeated missile and drone attacks on Israel since October. Until Monday, all of the group’s missiles and aircraft had been intercepted en route to their targets either by the IDF, the American or British navies, or the forces of neighboring countries like Jordan.

The Shia militia, which functions as the de facto armed forces of Yemen, has also vowed to disrupt commercial shipping in the Red Sea until Israel ceases its war with Hamas. Houthi militants have carried out scores of attacks on commercial shipping in the region, including a successful missile strike on an allegedly American-owned liquefied petroleum gas tanker on Tuesday.

From the outset of its campaign, the group said that it would target Israeli or “Israel-linked” shipping, including vessels owned or operated by American or British firms.

The US and Britain responded by deploying naval forces to the region and launching repeated waves of airstrikes against Houthi launch sites and other military facilities in Yemen. The most recent of these strikes took place on Monday, when US Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, said that its forces destroyed missiles, drones, and “weapons storage containers” on Yemeni soil.

Tennessee State Senate Passes Bill Banning “Chemtrail” Spraying in Their Skies

This new bill seeks to outlaw any such activities, stating that, “The intentional injection, release, or dispersion, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or apparatus within the borders of this state into the atmosphere with the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight is prohibited.”

The passage of this bill marks a significant development in the ongoing debate over geoengineering and environmental manipulation. Proponents of the bill believe that it is a necessary step to safeguard the environment and public health from unregulated geoengineering practices.

The legislation is set to be enforced beginning July 1, 2024, indicating the urgency that the Tennessee Senate places on this issue for the “public welfare.”

Attention now turns to the House, where the bill is scheduled to be reviewed by the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday.

If the House passes the bill, Tennessee would become one of the first states to establish a legal framework explicitly prohibiting the spraying of chemicals for geoengineering purposes, potentially setting a precedent for other states to follow in addressing concerns around environmental and atmospheric manipulation.

Israel To Invade Rafah 'No Matter What US Says': Top Official

On Thursday Israel issued its most defiant response yet to Washington pressre that it abandon its plans for a ground invasion of Rafah, over fears of another mass civilian casualty humanitarian disaster, given the high number of refugees packed into the southern Gaza city.

A top Israeli official was quoted in Bloomberg as saying the military is going to invade Rafah and defeat Hamas "even if the entire world turns on Israel, including the United States." Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, issued the words in a podcast interview.

"We are going to go in and finish this job, and anybody who doesn’t understand that doesn’t understand that the existential nerve of the Jews was touched" by the Oct. 7 terror attack, he said.

Dermer pointed out the reality remains that the White House still has yet the definitively rule out any military operation in Rafah. Biden administration statements have demanded that civilians be safely evacuated first, but have been ambiguous on the question of a ground operation.

Dermer explained of what Biden officials have communicated thus far: "They said without a credible way of moving a mass of people out of Rafah and surging humanitarian assistance to them they don’t see how this can be done effectively."

He continued: "And we are saying we agree with you that we have to move the people out, we agree we have to get humanitarian assistance to them, and we believe we can do it."

Dermer emphasized that Israel will do what it takes to protect itself even if this brings significant harm to US-Israel relations: "Could you have a breach over Rafah?" he questioned. "You could. We hope we don’t."

NY Prepares To Seize Trump Assets In Westchester County

The state of New York has positioned itself to seize Donald Trump's assets in Westchester County following a $454 million civil fraud judgement against the former president. The state registered the massive judgement in the county, a sign that his properties in the area may be at risk of being seized if Trump can't post an appeal bond.

The judgement, registered March 6 according to the Westchester Country Clerk's online database, didn't give any reason for the registration, nor did it specifically identify any of Trump's assets, but it will allow Attorney General Letitia James to more easily secure liens on two of the billionaire's most valuable properties - Trump National Golf Club Westchester, and the 212-acre Seven Springs estate which remains mostly undeveloped, Bloomberg reports.

Over 30 Missiles Used In First Russian Attack On Kiev In 44 Days

The Ukrainian capital of Kiev had not been targeted by airstrikes since February, but that changed when overnight and in the early morning hours Russian ballistic and cruise missiles rocked the city, reportedly wounding at least 13 people and causing damage to multiple buildings.

Ukraine officials said air defenses intercepted "about three dozen enemy missiles" and that rocket fragments fell on a kindergarten in the Sviatoshynskyi district and a residential building caught fire. It was the first large-scale strike on the capital in 44 days, and a appears a direct response to the last several days of Ukraine forces' cross-border drone attacks on Russian territory.

The head of Ukraine's air force Mykola Oleschuk said anti-air systems downed 31 missiles, counting among these two ballistic missiles and 29 cruise missiles, which points to a very large attack. The day prior, Russian missiles pummeled the northern city of Kharkiv, reportedly killing five.

President Zelensky in a statement said, "Such terror continues every day and night." He went on to urgently appeal for more weapons, especially anti-air missile systems, mentioning the US-made Patriots by name.

"It is possible to put an end to it through global unity… Russian terrorists do not have missiles capable of bypassing Patriot and other leading world systems," he said.

This is likely to give greater urgency to EU meetings in Brussels who are pushing forward a controversial plan which Moscow has decried as 'theft':

Later today, European Union leaders are scheduled to meet in Brussels to discuss the use of billions of euros in profits from frozen Russian financial assets to buy arms for Ukraine as they try to bolster Kyiv in its fight against Moscow’s invasion.

The bloc’s 27 national leaders, joined by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky via video link, will also debate how Europe can do more to defend itself and boost its arms industry, reflecting fears that the US may not be such a staunch protector of Europe in future.

A Thursday cross-border attack from Ukraine on Russia's Belgorod region had reportedly injured five, while a drone attack on Wednesday reached some 600km to hit Engels airbase which houses Russian strategic bombers.
