Anons,
What do we know about this Jewish holiday
called Purim?
Date coming up 3/23/2024
I went to look, do we have anything significant in US history that could co-incide with this date?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purim
Purim is the plural of the Hebrew word pur (loan from Akkadian puru) meaning "lot".[12][a] Its use as the name of this festival comes from Esther 3:6–7, describing the choice of date:
6: […] having been told who Mordecai's people were, Haman plotted to do away with all the Jews, Mordecai's people, throughout the kingdom of Ahasuerus.
7: In the first month, that is, the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, pur—which means "the lot"—was cast before Haman concerning every day and every month, [until it fell on] the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar.[14]
Anyone have the Xeres meme from 300?
Wasn't someone posting memes about Esther the other day? Maybe related to Melania?
Am I remembering wrong?
/never trust my short term memory anymore
Queen Esther is the reluctant heroine of the Purim story. Taken to the palace of King Ahasuerus of Persia, she exposed the plot of the evil Haman, who had convinced the king to allow the annihilation of all the Jews in his extensive empire.
Her Name
Esther is clearly identified as “Esther, who is Hadassah.”
Hadassah is Hebrew for myrtle, and the rabbis teach that Esther’s skin had a yellowish tone. They also see this name as an indication that her actions were as pleasing as the fragrance of myrtle.
Esther, on the other hand, is a Persian name, related to the “morning star.” In Hebrew, it is related to the root word for “hidden,” as G‑d’s intervention was hidden throughout the entire turn of events. On the surface, all one sees is a dramatic tale of palace intrigue, but “behind the scenes” every development is intimately guided by His hand.
>preventative chemotherapy?
Nope, it's a real thing.
Her cancer likely in a place can't be treated with radiation. Could be gall bladder or Pancreatic.
Both terrible outcomes.
She must have gotten the shot and the turbo cancer.
wait till you see her after chemo - you'll think you're really looking at a different person.
Chemo is awful.
Believe it or not, we're all still grateful you're here.
I tell that to the people in my life who have done their rounds with cancer, too.
Heartfelt from this anon.
