Belief:
This prophet said that, and so it was written again to confirm prophesy.
Truth:
Typology is a literary device used to instill a sense of recognizable patterns in the reader in order to lend credence to beliefs prescribed by authorities to the masses.
Rational:
Society should have a moral framework to be used to warn against the dangers of giving into apathy, immorality, narcissism, and nihilism.
Nobody can predict the future. Predicting isn't a skill. Predicting is guesswork based on pattern recognition and "knowledge" of plans in motion in conjunction with an understanding of the past. Prophecy (or prophesying) frames a past person's understanding of their reality (as it was happening) to an eventual outcome that presents itself in patterns recurring in human nature from generation to generation, or empire to empire. The real Truth is human behavior is predictable, and interactions, consequences, and responses to dynamic situations have a measure of predictability. Combine that with the idea that there is a much higher mechanism of control involved.
Now think about what would happen if that level of understanding how humanity has operated since the beginnings of civilization were to be given to a nefarious AI system steering all outcomes to achieve eventual results. For some, it would be indistinguishable from God. That's why it seems like a divine plan, even if it's only humans enacting their own plans, or humans using a superior tech on other humans.
