During a visit to Washington on Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant responded to the UN Security Council passing a resolution that called for a Ramadan ceasefire in Gaza, saying Israel had “no moral right” to stop its brutal military operations.
“We have no moral right to stop the war in Gaza until we return all the hostages to their homes. If we don’t reach a clear and absolute victory in Gaza, it could bring a war in the north closer,” Gallant said.
While Gallant signaled Israel could stop if all the hostages are released, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said his goal is to “eradicate” Hamas, which US and Israeli intelligence believes is unrealistic. Israel has also refused to engage with Hamas’s demand for a deal that would free all Israeli hostages in exchange for a permanent ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
The UN Security Council resolution called for the unconditional release of hostages but didn’t make it a condition for a ceasefire. Gallant called the resolution “scandalous” and said he would tell National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan “the importance of bringing down the Hamas regime.”
Gallant said he would use his time in the US to push for more support for the Israeli military. “I am now opening my visit to Washington as a representative of the State of Israel and on behalf of the Government of Israel. I came here to clarify the need to strengthen the IDF and strengthen the State of Israel,” he said.
Netanyahu canceled another Israeli delegation to Washington in response to the US not vetoing the Security Council resolution. The delegation was supposed to discuss Israel’s plans to attack the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Despite the US expressing concerns, Netanyahu has vowed to launch a full-scale assault on the city, which would incur huge civilian casualties.

According to the report, the total wealth of American billionaires has reached a staggering $5.53 trillion as of March 18. The windfall has primarily benefited titans of the tech industry, with luminaries such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg leading the charge.
Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has seen his wealth balloon from approximately $25 billion to a jaw-dropping $188.5 billion, marking a more than seven-fold increase. Similarly, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, saw his fortune swell from $113 billion to $192.8 billion, despite notable philanthropic endeavors and a high-profile divorce. Mark Zuckerberg, the visionary behind Facebook, more than doubled his wealth, soaring from $54.7 billion to $113.5 billion.
Even heirs to retail giant Walmart, Jim, Alice and Rob Walton, have seen a substantial uptick in their combined assets, rising from $161.1 billion to $229.6 billion during the same period.
Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, ranks among the top billionaires, with his net worth climbing to $131.5 billion, up from $98 billion in 2020. Violent settler incursions into the holy site are one of the main factors that led to the 7 October attack by the Palestinian resistance
Tensions in Jerusalem rose after dozens of violent settlers charged the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard on the second day of the Jewish holiday of Purim on 25 March.
The extremist settlers were under the protection of the Israeli police, according to Jerusalem’s Islamic Endowments Department. Settlers started entering the compound in the early hours of Monday from the Mughrabi gate and continued to push into the eastern and northern courtyards.

Over 140 families have been displaced in the West Bank since the beginning of Israel’s hostilities against Gaza, amounting to around a thousand people.

Hamas’ statement on the reasoning behind their operation in October asked what the “world expects the Palestinian people to do in response” to the decades of violence they endured at the hands of the Israelis.

Moscow Theater attack reminds me of U.S. policy in Syria
Back in 2015, the Guardian published a fascinating report titled Now the truth emerges: how the US fuelled the rise of Isis in Syria and Iraq, which detailed how U.S. and British intelligence were supporting Islamic jihadist rebel groups in Syria with the objective of overthrowing the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The report included a link to a leaked 2012 Department of Defense document about U.S. support for these rebel groups in Syria, including ISIS. This report stuck with me, and I was a reminded of it a couple of years later when Assad was accused in April 2017 of using chemical weapons against Syrian civilians.
Notably, this chemical weapons attack just happened to occur the day after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson publicly announced that regime change in Syria was no longer official U.S. policy. In other words—we were told—the day after the U.S. announced it was getting off Assad’s case, he committed an atrocity (of zero military value) that would guarantee that the U.S. recommit itself to getting rid of him.
Though most of the legacy press endorsed the assertion that Assad’s forces were behind the attack, a few discerning reporters noted that it could have easily been carried about by one of the Islamic jihadist groups operating in the region to make the Trump administration rethink its abandonment of its regime change objective. Sure enough, a couple of days after the chemical attack, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that he was reconsidering his announcement the week before.
Now comes the news of a major terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall in Moscow that has left hundreds dead and injured. The U.S. government claims the attack was carried out by ISIS-K, which has reportedly taken responsibility for it. However, Kremlin officials have alleged that some of the gunmen were trying to escape into Ukraine, utilizing a ‘window’ of support from across the border
The U.S. government just issued a statement condemning the terrorist attack in Moscow, but this reminds me of U.S. government doublespeak about ISIS back in the 2012-2017 period—that is, publicly condemning ISIS while secretly supporting it in Syria.
My concern now is that the attack on the Moscow theater was—like the Re’im music festival massacre in Israel last October—designed to provoke the absolute maximum violent response.
A hypothetical scenario is the CIA and DoD have continued to support ISIS and that the gunmen were indeed attempting to escape through Ukraine.
If this is indeed the case, it suggests that the gambit is for Russian intelligence to discover the plot and conduct a major reprisal in Ukraine. The Biden Administration will insist that the U.S. does NOT support ISIS, and that the Russian reprisal is further evidence that Putin is a maniac.

People using popular acne creams were warned recently of the dangers lurking in their favorite products.
A letter sent to the FDA from independent lab Valisure found levels of the carcinogen benzene were more than 12 times the FDA's limit of 2 parts per million.
Benzene is a known carcinogen that has been associated with cancers like lymphoma and leukemia, according to research from the University of California, Berkeley.
Despite its dangers, the chemical is omnipresent, and people can be exposed to it in the air from cars burning fuel, second-hand vape smoke and even from cooking over a gas flame, Kelly Dobos, a cosmetic scientist at the University of Cincinnati, told The Cut.
However, it is in more than just the air - as Valisure discovered - benzene is also found in cosmetic products used by millions of people.
Some of the products Valisure tested contained more than 800 times the federally recommended levels for benzene, partly due to the fact the products contain a chemical called benzoyl-peroxide.
Benzoyl-peroxide is used in numerous acne treatments, Including face washes and creams that are available via a doctor's prescription or over-the-counter. Typically, it's in a gel that aims to reduce the amount of bacteria on the skin's surface that causes acne.
When benzoyl-peroxide is exposed to heat it under goes a chemical change, turning into benzene.
Some acne products found to contain the ingredient include those from brands like ProActiv, Clearasil, PanOxyl, Walgreens, Cera Ve, Clinique, Clearasil, Target's Up & Up, and Walmart's Equate Beauty acne treatment.
Reckitt, which owns Clearasil, said in a statement to DailyMail.com: 'Reckitt is confident that all Clearasil products, when used and stored as directed on their labels, are safe.'
Some of these acne products, like Proactiv Emergency Blemish Relief, should be kept in the fridge out of an abundance of caution to keep them safe, the American Acne and Rosacea Society recommended.
While others may not need to be kept cold, they should still be kept in a cool dry place as high temperatures can trigger the chemical reaction that produces benzene.
'Unless someone is keeping their acne treatment in a car during the hottest days of summer, it’s incredibly unlikely your product will experience that kind of condition,' Dobos said.

Police have confiscated a shirt glorifying the October 7 attacks worn at a major tourist attraction in NSW, but have stopped short of laying charges.
Police have spoken to a man and confiscated a shirt glorifying the October 7 terror attacks that was worn to a major NSW tourist attraction.
But officers have stopped short of laying charges, saying they need to obtain legal advice.
A NSW Police spokesman confirmed officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command have spoken to a 29-year-old man and he had surrendered the clothing to them.
“A legal advising is being sought in relation to the incident,” the spokesman said.
Police would not confirm where the man was from and if he was a tourist, nor when the conversation had taken place.
The man had worn a sports jersey emblazoned with “Oct 7”, the colours of the Palestinian flag and a watermelon icon – a symbol of Palestinian resistance commonly used by pro-Palestinian activists – to Scenic World in Katoomba, west of Sydney, on March 9.
Sky News revealed last month that staff from the venue had brushed off Jewish man Steve Joffe, who had reported the incident and took a photograph of the man.
NSW Police also initially failed to follow up the Sydney witness’ report to CrimeStoppers, telling the media it had received no reports on the incident.
Police only contacted Mr Joffe to obtain his statement after this network aired an interview with him.
“Everyone has their view of freedom of speech and I understand that, but this is actively supporting terrorism, if nothing else,” Mr Joffe told Sky News at the time.
“We have laws against discrimination and hate speech now and for me, this falls into that category.
"There is law in this country and there is a process and if you follow it, the right thing should happen and I put my faith in that process."

Convicted sex offender was on the board of body that investigated teacher's explicit emails
Convicted sex offender Peter Cullen Macarthur was part of the peak body that investigated a Cranbrook teacher who was accused of sending sexually explicit emails to a former student.
A prominent private school peak body had a convicted child sex offender on its board at the time it recommended a Cranbrook School teacher's sexually explicit emails to a former student be considered "non-reportable conduct".
The fallout for prestigious Sydney boys' school Cranbrook over the graphic emails has been swift, claiming the scalp of its headmaster and seeing the teacher placed on leave.
Now the National Children's Commissioner and child safety advocates are calling for further scrutiny of the role of the Association of Independent Schools NSW (AISNSW), the peak body that investigated the incident.
The AISNSW investigates dozens of allegations of reportable conduct in member schools each year, including when an incident is considered too serious for the school to handle internally.
The peak body covers more than 500 independent schools, or 18 per cent of the NSW student population, including some of Sydney's top private schools such as the King's School, Scots College, SHORE and SCEGGS.

The ABC can reveal the current AISNSW chair John Ralston was also its chair in 1995, the year another board director Peter Cullen Macarthur disclosed he had been convicted of two sexual assaults, one involving a child.
Dr Macarthur was allowed to remain in his governance role at AISNSW for another 22 years, only leaving in 2017 when he became ineligible to continue.
Both men were on the board in 2015, when the AISNSW investigated the Cranbrook teacher's explicit emails detailing his sexual fantasies to a former student, who was a young adult at the time.
Details of AISNSW investigations are not made public, and rarely attract the same level of scrutiny.
The ABC has been told by a source close to the report that it found the Cranbrook teacher's conduct was "not reportable".
But the teacher's actions have since been described as "extremely serious" by federal Education Minister Jason Clare and “extremely concerning past conduct” by the Cranbrook school council.
A spokesperson for AISNSW said its child safety investigators were "accredited through the Security Licensing Enforcement Directorate of NSW Police to undertake child protection investigations".
AISNSW also said all current board members had a Working with Children Check and "since 1995, there have been multiple changes to the law, the type and availability of checks required, and also to board directors".
Mr Ralston currently sits on the board of Wenona, an independent girl's school in Sydney.
He declined to comment.
