No one really wants an all out war. One can't make any money at war if you're a combatant. DS is trying play both sides against the middle. That's how they make this work. Race wars, Religious wars, ect, anything they can do to ensure THEY are not a target.
I suspect they also know that 'we' know. The fact that we know, endangers them.

However, what does one do with the, what is the population of Mass that are gun owners, that are now felons. Shall the SC overturn this law after the arrests and confiscations have happened? What assurance do they have that the SC would overturn, and what assurance do they have they would get their property back? The danger is clear, present and now, not later.
