US didn’t share full intelligence on Moscow terror attack – NYT

Washington’s “adversarial relationship” with Russia prevented full disclosure of what it knew, sources told the newspaper

The lack of trust between the US and Russia prevented Washington from sharing all the intelligence it possessed about a looming terrorist attack in Moscow, the New York Times has claimed.

Four gunmen staged one of the bloodiest massacres in Russian history last Friday, when they went on a gun rampage at a large concert venue just outside of the capital before setting the building on fire. Over 140 people were killed in the attack.

Earlier in March, the US embassy in Moscow issued a warning to American citizens of a possible attack. Separately, a non-public message was sent to Russian security officials. Aleksandr Bortnikov, the head of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), described it as “general in nature,” when he updated the public on the investigation on Tuesday.

“The adversarial relationship between Washington and Moscow prevented US officials from sharing any information about the plot beyond what was necessary,” the Times said. The Americans purportedly held back information “out of fear Russian authorities might learn their intelligence sources or methods,” it said.

In the public warning on March 7, the embassy said the threat was acute for the next 48 hours. The newspaper said it was “unclear whether US intelligence mistook the timing of the attack or the extremists delayed their plan upon seeing heightened security.”

President Vladimir Putin described the perpetrators as radical Islamists, after they were apprehended in a Russian region bordering Ukraine. They had allegedly been recruited through an online chat operated on behalf of ISIS-K, an Afghanistan-based offshoot of the once-powerful terrorist organization Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS).

Washington has pinned the mass murder on ISIS-K, which has claimed credit for it. However, Russian officials have argued that some other party, such as Ukrainian intelligence services, may have masterminded the plot.

US trying to cover up ‘something’ related to Moscow terror attack – Kremlin

American certainty about Ukraine’s innocence is strange, Dmitry Peskov has said

Washington’s insistence on a narrative about the Crocus City Hall massacre is odd, since the Russian investigation is still ongoing, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

Within hours of Friday’s terrorist attack, which claimed 143 lives at a Moscow concert venue, the US and EU began insisting that Ukraine had absolutely nothing to do with it and that the terrorist group Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K) was the sole culprit.

“It’s strange, to say the least, that the Americans have dared to announce a single narrative,” Peskov told the Russian outlet Izvestiya on Wednesday. “This suggests at the very least that they are trying to shift attention away from something,” he added.

Peskov also noted that these claims came in before Moscow had formulated an official version of events, since Russian law enforcement is still working on the case.

Four men suspected of being the perpetrators were arrested early on Saturday as they attempted to flee into Ukraine, according to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). They were identified as nationals of Tajikistan.

While acknowledging the assessment by security services that the men were “radical Islamists,” Putin noted on Monday that many questions remained unanswered. He also noted that such terrorist attacks fit the pattern of hostile actions against Russia by Ukraine’s foreign sponsors.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has also commented on Washington’s strange insistence on the ISIS-K narrative. The US is obviously biased and trying to “get Ukraine out of harm’s way,” she said during the daily briefing on Wednesday.

Had Kiev truly been blameless, the US would have called for a full investigation, Zakharova argued. Instead, both the White House and the State Department simply announced that “Ukraine has nothing to do with this.”

asherah, ishtar, easter

all the same

Although this tradition of Easter eggs and the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are now thought to be the same thing, they're not.

Easter eggs have their roots in pagan traditions and are meant to celebrate Eostre/Ishtar, an ancient goddess.

Eggs symbolise rebirth

The egg is a central part of the Easter celebrations and has many symbolic meanings. According to pagan traditions, the egg represented the new life of spring.

Modern Christianity has adopted the symbol of the egg to signify the resurrection of Christ. They have linked this meaning of new life of the cracked egg with the resurrection of Jesus.

The tradition of colouring eggs marks the coming of spring

One of the things people often do at Easter is to decorate eggs. They're dyed and painted in all sorts of patterns, and this too has its roots in pagan traditions.

Originally these eggs were dyed with the blood of sacrifices as part of their rituals and this tradition has evolved into what we see today.

Nowadays they are dyed all sorts of colours to represent the rebirth of spring after winter.

Egg hunt to symbolise the empty tomb

The egg hunt is probably one of the main highlights for people who celebrate Easter. It's a game in which hard-boiled eggs, chocolate eggs or other types of decorated eggs are hidden in different places for children to find.

It is said that when these traditions were absorbed into Christianity, this activity of egg hiding came into being. Hiding the eggs is meant to symbolise the tomb, and when they're found, it's a celebration of the discovery of the empty tomb.

The Easter Bunny as a sign of fertility

The Easter Bunny is also an important part of these traditions. In pagan belief, the rabbit, which lays eggs, is a symbol of fertility and is celebrated in honour of Eostre/Ishtar.

The rabbit was originally a hare, but the concept of a rabbit has become more popular with this holiday, also for commercial purposes.

And although these traditions are enjoyed and celebrated by Christians, once again this is not a biblical concept but rather very pagan in its meaning and nature.
