2012 Bieber connection (Diddy too?)
Taylor Swift and B.o.B Come Together in Rapperโs New Track โBoth of Usโ.
Published: April 12, 2012
In addition to being a country superstar, Taylor Swift is also the queen of cross-genre collaboration. The 'Ours' singer who has been known to pull up guest stars of all walks onto her stage was recently featured on rapper B.o.B's single 'Both of Us,' which just hit the web yesterday. The song is a cut from the 'Airplanes' singer's forthcoming 'Strange Clouds' record.
Though she's collaborating with the rapper, the song doesn't find Swift rapping or pulling out any surprising R&B tricks. Think more B.o.B's duet with Paramore's Hayley Williams on 'Airplanes,' which 22-year-old Swift stepped in to sing with the rapper at her Dallas show last fall.
In 'Both of Us,' Swift actually leads the song with the opening slow-and-sweet vocals, which are also the chorus โ "I wish I was strong enough to lift not one but both us / Some day I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us."
After Swift's sweetly melodic intro chorus, B.o.B. jumps into a rap. "Ever thought about losing it
When your moneyโs all gone and you lose your whip / You might lose your grip when the landlord tell ya that you due for rent / And the grass so green on the other side," he chants.
With its real-life lyrics that often seem autobiographical, this song unwinds like something from the rapper's debut record, 2010's 'B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray.' And, with the exception of a word or two, it's safe for work โ and worth a listen.
Swift's cameo on B.o.B's record isn't her only recent step outside of the genre that has made her so famous. The young country blonde also recently took some time to co-write with pop star Justin Bieber for his upcoming album, 'Believe.' We'll have to wait until that one drops to see if Swift left her country roots behind for the co-write or if the Biebs decided to go a little bit country.
