To some, the Bible is propaganda. It depends on your point of view.
Proof denies faith, that's the way it is.
The Gospels are a case in point. They all saw the same events, yet the accounts are all slightly different. I think of them as being like newspapers, none of them tells the whole truth.
Explaining the otherwise un-explainable, all for the purposes of control of the masses. All because 'miracles'.
The Catholics have a good gig though, via Confession. A few Hail Mays and Our Fathers and the slate is clean, all ready to do it all over again.
