According to DARPA’s website, the Manta Ray Project seeks “to demonstrate innovative technologies allowing payload-capable autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) to operate on long-duration, long-range missions in ocean environments without the need for on-site human logistics.”

DARPA tapped defense contractor Northrop Grumman to create a prototype of the Manta Ray.

UCP MLA Jackie Lovely was in the south members’ lounge on Monday, following a speech on a private members’ bill on urban parks, when a verbal altercation occurred between her and Schmidt.

In a statement to True North, Lovely said Schmidt became “enraged” over the debate and “chased me and screamed at me in private to the point where security had to intervene.”

“This is the latest in a long pattern of behaviour from this NDP MLA that is not only unbecoming of a member but downright disturbing,” Lovely said. “I urge him to reflect on his behaviour and seek anger manager management training and psychological help for what is clearly a negative pattern of behaviour,” she said. The Ontario Court of Justice issued a notice to the profession and the public announcing that it will require all parties to state their preferred pronouns upon their introduction to the judge at any in-person or virtual event.

Lawyers must also state the pronouns of their clients, witnesses or any other individual who is called before the court.

“At the beginning of any in-person, virtual or hybrid hearings, when lawyers are introducing themselves, their client, a witness or another individual, they should provide the judge or justice of the peace with each person’s name, title (e.g. Mr., Mrs., Mx., Counsel “X”) and pronouns to be used in the hearing,” reads the notice released on Thursday.

The notice written by Sharon Nicklas, Chief Justice Ontario Court of Justice says that “if counsel does not provide this information in their introduction, they may be invited by a court clerk to provide this information.”

“At the beginning of each court session, court clerks have been asked by Court Services Division to announce that parties appearing before the court are invited to provide their title and pronouns to the court,” it added.

Bell Media’s CEO Mirko Bibic testified yesterday on why the company fired over 6,100 media employees in under a year despite receiving hundreds of millions of dollars from Canadian taxpayers.

The Conservative Party’s newest MP Jamil Jivani questioned Bibic about the company’s record of firing and losing employees due to accusations of discrimination. Those allegations also came from Jivani himself, who was previously employed by the outlet.

Jivani sued Bell Media after being fired from the company over what he called tokenism despite the company’s stated commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

According to the National Post He claimed he was hired as a token visible minority but fired when he didn’t match the liberal views the white executives expected from a Black man.

The company denied these claims but listed Jivani’s “open disdain” of Bell’s DEI initiatives as a reason for terminating his employment.

“Patricia Jaggernauth left CP24 claiming she was being tokenized as a black woman. Danielle Graham left CTV E-Talk claiming it was in part due to sexism and of course we’ve seen multiple media reports suggesting that Lisa Laflamme was pushed out of CTV news due to ageism,” Jivani said at the hearing.

British Columbia’s NDP government has passed new legislation that makes it illegal to demonstrate within 20 metres of school grounds to block gender identity curriculum protests.

Premier David Eby said that the Ministry of Education “has documented 18 major disruptions” of protests at schools in the province since the start of the 2023-24 school year, which he claims disrupt educational activities and intimidate students.

“We’ve had people banging on school windows in British Columbia,” he said.

“It never crossed my mind to be worried that a grown adult would be waiting on the school perimeter to yell at my child about pornographic books or about puberty blockers,” added Eby.

Under the new law, anyone who blocks an entrance to school grounds, disrupts school activities or programs, or poses a concern to the mental or physical safety of students or staff within these zones will face arrest or ticketing.

Liberal Minister Sean Fraser’s parliamentary secretary failed to attend the planned meeting and “threw staff” members at the attendees, according to Dreeshen.

The Transportation Minister was hoping this meeting could secure the federal government’s commitment to First Nation road funding; however, they have proceeded to ignore the issue.

“It was very unfortunate that Minister Fraser’s parliamentary secretary could not attend the meetings. They just threw staff at us,” Dreeshen told The Counter Signal.

“But it is something that we’re going to continue to push for because this road is so important for that region of the province as well as the First Nation families that live along that road,” he added.

“There’s an $8 million commitment from the province, an $8 million commitment from Clearwater County…but we need the federal government to step up and they haven’t for years,” said Dreeshen.

He also mentioned that First Nations are “terrified” after Climate Change Minister Steven Guilbeault announced there would be no new funding for road infrastructure.

Canadian company dbrand, which makes accessories for devices, has come under fire for an alleged racist remark against an Indian customer who gave negative feedback about a product.

Bhuwan Chitransh, a Netherlands-based software engineer from Pune, took to X (formerly Twitter) to say that a dbrand Macbook skin he bought had lost its color within just two months. “Your last name is basically shit rash, be serious,” the company wrote in response to the complaint.

Chitransh answered by suggesting such remarks reflect “the invaluable perspective” of the brand towards Indian customers. He also tagged the accounts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his office, and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The comment triggered a widespread outcry on social media, particularly in India. Amid the backlash, dbrand eventually apologized and offered $10,000 to Chitransh “as a gesture of goodwill.”
