Andrew Weissman’s fabulous piece, and I don’t think its a painting. It appears to be 3D, possibly a metal sculpture ? It is indeed - the shit ! On MSNBC you’ll see it when Weissman is interviewed from home.

Hah! that's where he got the picture from, he snapped it mid-interview. I didn't even think to look up Weissman himself!

*edit

Looking through twitter, I see quite a few mentions of it being shell art, as well as others asking, but no answer- the mystery continues

I just snapped a pic of that same stunning piece showing on Andrew Weissman's screen, and it led me to this post. It is really gorgeous.

I’m a professional artist myself and I’m pretty certain, like 90%, that it’s the work of shell artist, Julio Guadalupe Mesa. His work has been given to some pretty well known clergy, politicians and dignitaries all over the world. The Pope has one of his works.

Thanks!

Definitely looks like his work, at least by my untrained eyes.

Every time I watch Andrew on MSNBC I gag this is so ugly! He is great, his art not so much. Simply too much!

Different strokes for different folks? What about it is too much to you? The particular piece, or his whole loft?

I guess in life and in art! Just the piece! It reminds me of those black velvet Elvis paintings, a group of friends were talking last weekend and we all hate it so I went to Reddit to see if there was a consensus, there is, just not what I expected.

Hah, those Elvis paintings are something else for sure, they make me think of "sparkly Edwin Cullen"
