>You know… I just realized I've never stuck with something for this long a time. Not even close when it comes to any job, let alone something volunteered for free.
When I was 12 I rode my bike across town to a farm owned by a veterinarian in our town. I got off the bike, knocked on the door, and when the vet answered I asked if I could please have a job. I loved animals so much!
The vet was startled to see a young child at his door, asking for a job, so he said, "let's call your parents to come pick you up" so he did.
My dad showed up in our family station wagon, so we chucked my bike in the back.
The vet said to my father, "nobody's ever biked over here to ask if they can work at my animal hospital and farm, but when your child is old enough, there'll be a job waiting."
Being the little autist that I am, I started drawing the letter X on calendars until I was old enough to return to the vet and ask for a job again.
Well, 3 years later, when I was old enough to get "working papers" at age 15, in my state, my mom drove me to that vet's animal hospital.
"I'm back, the kid who biked over to your farm three years ago, and I'd like to work for you, please" I said.
The veterinarian remembered me.
He couldn't believe I came right back at the exact time that I was old enough to start working.
He hired me on the spot, and I became a workaholic.
The thing is, though, when you're an animal lover and your job is all about animals, it doesn't feel like work: it feels like getting paid to be in Heaven!
I worked for that veterinarian from age 15 on, and stayed very close to him until he was in his 90s, right up until his funeral.
More than 40 years after I biked over to his house and begged for my first job, I delivered his eulogy when he sadly left this earth.
WHY TELL YOU ALL THAT?
To let you know that when you love someone, or some thing, it's very easy to commit to that person, or those animals, or that cause. You know it's right.
In the case of this Board and Q, I've been here since the beginning, too, and the time has absolutely flown.
Along the way, you've all taught me some magnificent research
skills that have been deployed against the most evil pieces of shit on earth.
Our time here flies like my time working for that hero veterinarian. It's easy because we good guise love God, our country, and The United States Constitution.
Our choice is simple: FIGHT OR DIE.=
We refuse to die, so it's fight, fight, fight.
