there prob is a better answer, it should not be BUT the problem is especially in larger nations to know what is accepted money or not. Fifty states each with their own currency? Some states may not take Texas dollars then or Alabama bucks. Is there a rate exchange that California clams is not worth as much as a New York Nickle. In some ways that is already happening there needs to be some system in place for nations but most certainly not the federal reserve. We also need to bring the gold standard back so that way it can be modulated based on that and not the arbitrary whims of people in suits.
local and state governments are pretty much neutered, because the states abdicated much of their power when they sent it to DC I think that was the 17th amendment.

shit i was wrong section 10 of the constitution bans states from printing their own money. Section 9 gives the power to the federal government. I understand the reasoning and it was also what gave rise to the confederate dollars. But I think Gold being a common denominator would fix much. I still kinda like the idea of each state doing it though, there are pros and cons but gold is the unifier no matter what happens next. Gold destroys the fed after all.

In some ways yes. but one of the major powers at least the one i was initially thinking of is not being able to recall senators from DC. The people in washington say they are responsible to the people but they are not, and they have no loyalty to the state either really. That was a major abdication of power. The other thing is that state senates from my understanding are not in session all the time. I get that also kinda, but they ram every thing through in a two week period. None of the system is either working as originally intended or because of the size and expansion of America is working either. States stating up against abortion is a good step, but the problem then goes back to the federal where they can over rule that state eventually if they pass the correct semantics in a law. Its all just broken and unless people realize the extent they will just slap cancerous band aids on it that will leach into the skin. Causing the same rot over. But it is good that states are trying but its not enough at this point.
