Due to a shortage of ammunition, Ukrainian soldiers are sent on dangerous missions: to search for unexploded ordnance on the battlefield, writes The Wall Street Journal.

They are taken, in particular, from swamps and other bodies of water, where there is a greater chance that the projectile will be preserved. We are talking about Russian shells that are fired at Ukrainian positions.

According to Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Maxim Polyukhovich, he not only has to examine the swamps, but also walk several kilometers through minefields in search of shells.

He said that "the commanders' appetite is growing" and he is sent on such missions almost every day. According to the soldier, this is dangerous because unexploded shells can be damaged and can detonate at any moment.

Other officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed to journalists the acute shortage of shells, which they have to constantly save and “shoot only at the most important targets.”
