DALLAS — Incumbent State Rep. Morgan Meyer held off challenger Barry Wernick in his re-election bid in the Texas House District 108 Republican primary.
Meyer earned 51% of the vote to Wernick's 49%. House District 108 includes parts of Dallas and University Park.
Meyer had faced opposition from some Republican leaders after acting as a House Manager during the impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
But ads featuring Gov. Greg Abbott have thrown their support behind Meyer.(What is wrong with Abbott?)
With only two candidates, itwas a tight race – Meyer led by about 500 votes.
The winner of this primary will go on to face their Democratic opponent on Election Day Nov. 5.
