Well, that set a fire and one of the lawyers for the vandals, called for a dismissal, as her client claimed it had nothing to with "race" as they thought "Jews were white." So, the Synagogue appealed and was ruled against. That didn't satisfy them, though so they appealed again, losing yet again. This synagogue went through each circuit, finally making it's way to SCOTUS, who gave them a pyrrhic victory: They shot down their appeal, but did define that since "some Jews identified as White," Jews should be classified as a "Sub-group" of Caucasoid. The opinions of the court are absolutely hilarious. In the end, the Synagogue spent more money on appeals, losing every time and getting branded as "White" by the Supreme court in the process, than it would have for them to have just paid to repaint the synagogue.

Yeah…. when I had to read these case files 2 decades ago, I couldn't help but laugh about it. I never did find out the amount they spent, but I dug up articles on it and the damage was a couple of hundred in paint and not the tens of thousands they probably spent in appellate courts.
