That's weird.
Most cameras can't see stars if there is somthing really bright in the foreground. It's an exposure issue. Try taking a photo of the moon & you'll see that the camera just sees a big white blob - doesn't pick up the detail that you see.
Some cameras are improving though with "range of exposure" or something
I have seen some photos that almost capture the man in the moon which previously cameras could not see
