West covers up Kiev’s attacks on ZNPP for political reasons

Mikhail Ulyanov said that he called on his Western colleagues "at least through bilateral channels they should eventually tell the Ukrainians off"

VIENNA, April 12. /TASS/. The West covers up Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) for political reasons, which it prioritizes over nuclear security, Russian Permanent Envoy to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said.

"It’s a difficult situation. The West is standing united and de facto covers up any actions of Kiev. I said at the meeting that considerations of political conjuncture are more important for Westerners than nuclear safety, which they care so much about in words. De facto - yes, this is more important for them," he told reporters after an extraordinary meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors.

"I called on my Western colleagues, if they are afraid to talk about this publicly, at least through bilateral channels they should eventually tell the Ukrainians off. Those who have a certain influence on Kiev could well do this, but, by all indications, they do not," Ulyanov added.

"It was important for the Ukrainians, it seems to me, to switch attention from the shelling of the station to a wider range of related issues. And the Western delegations acted in exactly the same way. From the threat to nuclear safety, which they mentioned briefly, their thoughts instantly flowed into completely different areas. ‘Russia must withdraw its military personnel from the NPP, from Ukraine.’ This is a broken record. Our Western opponents clearly have cribs, which were apparently drawn up in Brussels," the Russian diplomat said.

"I don’t expect anything grand from the event in New York. It will be the same there. The audience is slightly different, but the result is approximately the same as here: a useful discussion for us, highlighting what is happening. But no one except us will name Ukrainians as the guilty party," he said.

Over the past few days, Ukrainian troops attacked the NPP with drones almost on a daily basis. In that regard, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Raphael Grossi will address the UN Security Council meeting on April 15.

Most of IAEA session participants realize that ZNPP is shelled by Ukraine

Mikhail Ulyanov said that during the meeting, many countries spoke against ZNPP shelling, including "many of those who are generally more inclined to support Ukraine."

VIENNA, April 12. /TASS/. The majority of delegations present at the extraordinary meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors realize that Ukraine is responsible for shelling attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Russian Permanent Envoy to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said.

"According to my impressions, I, of course, cannot give exact statistics, the vast majority of those who participated in today’s meeting understand that the shelling was carried out by Ukrainians. Although the latter predictably insist that this is a ‘Russian false flag operation’ and, as always, for propaganda purposes, they are turning the arrows from themselves to us. But it sounded very unconvincing from them," he told Russian reporters after the meeting.

"Naturally, we named Ukraine as the guilty party, since we know this 100%, and so did our Syrian friends, Permanent Representative of Syria. The rest, in conditions where there is no official conclusion about the guilt of the Ukrainians from the IAEA, avoided this point. But many countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America strongly called for these attacks to be stopped immediately. What, in fact, we wanted to see and hear," Ulyanov continued.

The Russian diplomat added that during the meeting, many countries spoke against ZNPP shelling, including "many of those who are generally more inclined to support Ukraine."

IAEA ‘afraid’ to directly name Ukraine as culprit for ZNPP attacks

It is not customary to speak badly about Ukrainians, because, they say, they are victims, Mikhail Ulyanov said

VIENNA, April 12. /TASS/. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is afraid to directly name Ukraine as a culprit for the shelling attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Russian Permanent Envoy to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said.

"I have a feeling that they are afraid. Ukrainians are, as it were, ‘untouchables.’ It is not customary to speak badly about Ukrainians, because, they say, they are victims. An atmosphere has been created that essentially encourages the Ukrainian side to act recklessly, as with these attacks," the diplomat told reporters after an extraordinary meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors.

The remark came as a response to a question about reasons behind IAEA’s reluctance to identify those responsible for shelling the ZNPP.

"Noting the quick and harsh reaction of the [IAEA] Director General to what was happening, we stated that a very serious shortcoming is that Rafael Grossi avoids naming the guilty party," Ulyanov said.

The Russian diplomat also emphasized that Russia informed all members of the organization about the situation around the ZNPP "almost in real time."

We give everything we can to the public space, we send out information circulars that are distributed among all IAEA member states without exception.

In recent days, the Ukrainian military has been attacking the ZNPP almost daily with the help of drones. On April 5, Ukrainian forces launched several drone strikes on the territory near the cargo port and the nitrogen-oxygen station. No damage to critical infrastructure or disruption of the nuclear plant's systems was recorded. On April 7, Ukrainian forces conducted three drone attacks on the ZNPP. A truck unloading food near the canteen on the territory of the plant was damaged. Three people were injured. One of the drones hit the roof of Unit 6. On April 8, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone was shot down over the plant, its debris fell on the roof of Unit 6. On April 9, the power plant’s press service said that the building hosting the world’s only full-scale reactor hall simulator had come under attack.

The ZNPP, located in Energodar, has six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW. It is Europe‘s largest nuclear power generating facility. At the end of February 2022, the facility was taken over by Russian forces. Since then, Ukrainian army units have periodically shelled both residential areas in Energodar and the plant itself using drones, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers.

Zaporozhye NPP reconnected to its only backup power line

The ZNPP was disconnected from the backup line and had to fully rely on the main 750kV line on April 4

VIENNA, April 12. /TASS/. The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant was reconnected to its remaining 330kV backup power supply line after being forced to rely solely on its main line for a few days, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said.

"The ZNPP separately informed the IAEA team that the plant - throughout the past week - once again had access to its only remaining back-up power line, which was lost in early April," the statement says.

The ZNPP was disconnected from the backup line and had to fully rely on the main 750kV line on April 4. The cause of the disruption is unknown, but it followed reports of military activity in the region and beyond.

The power plant was completely cut off from external power supply sources eight times since August 2022, with the latest such incident reported in December 2023. Earlier this year, the auxiliary 330kV line was also disconnected for the period of three weeks, but the main 750 kV line remained operational during this period.

if ya looked at it from a different direction, with a point at the top instead of the bottom

would it still be a "pentagram?"

or just a star?

>It's just routine commercial contrails, Anon. The flight paths are public and well known. There have been condensation trails causing cloud formations as long as there have been hydrocarbon-fueled combustion engines venting exhaust at altitude.

water droplet contrails dissipate within minutes

they do not and cannot persist for hours or days

but you know that, dontcha
