A dozen Republican-led states plan to send a letter to Bank of America demanding an explanation for why it allegedly de-banked Christian and other conservative groups.

The letter obtained first by DailyMail.com, led by Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, demands that the financial institution turn over documents related to its account cancellation policies and requested that the bank update its terms of services to not discriminate against clients with certain political or religious beliefs.

The notice comes after it was revealed that Bank of America sent the FBI and U.S. Treasury private consumer financial data to help the agencies investigate crimes related to the January 6 Capitol protest. 'Unfortunately, Bank of America appears to be conditioning access to its services on customers having the bank's preferred religious or political views,' Kobach writes in the letter to Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan obtained by DailyMail.com.

'Your discriminatory behavior is a serious threat to free speech and religious freedom, is potentially illegal, and is causing political and regulatory backlash.' 'Your bank needs to be transparent with and assure us, its shareholders, and others that it will not continue to de-bank customers for their speech or religious exercise.'

The letter is co-signed by officials from Alaska, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas and Utah.

The marathon task of trying America's most famous man: First day of hush money trial ends with NO jurors selected… with judge dismissing more than 50 candidates so far because they can't be impartial or fair

  • The first trial of a former American president began in New York on Monday

  • In the first batch, 96 potential jurors were sworn in, before 50 asked to be excused

  • Trump was grim-faced throughout proceedings, making his quiet fury obvious

The first trial of a former U.S. president began not with fireworks, angry polemic or theatrics.

It began with a moment of quiet solemnity as 96 prospective jurors were sworn in at Manhattan criminal court on Monday afternoon.

And then half were dismissed after admitting there was no possible way they could stop their strong feelings about Donald Trump getting in the way of a fair verdict.

Trump, whose norm-busting time in office has given way to a precedent shattering post-presidency, sat grim faced through much of the proceedings.

'You are about to participate in a trial by jury. The system of trial by jury is one the cornerstones of our judicial system,' Judge Juan Merchan told the dozens of potential jurors arrayed before him.
