All major government officials for USA have immunity; SCOTUS, Congress, etc., The organizers of our system- i.e. "Founding Fathers" knew that, otherwise, things such as what's happening right now to POTUS Trump, would become routine and destroy the beautiful system we are supposed to enjoy - (if and when all things go right, which they will, if we keep our eyes open and stick together)

The Founders of our Republic knew the nature of lawyers, they knew conspiracies, they knew tyranny, all from the OLD WORLD; and wanted to protect us, their progeny, (their Providence) from what they tried to escape, from the kind of people now usurping the levers of government power, from what is now happening to POTUS DJT, i.e. a "railroading" of a political opponent by an unjust thieving lying corrupt mob.
The Founders knew Inquisitions and oppression. They created the immunity status as protection for those who work for "the people" in sensitive offices of government, since they knew political enemies would create gratuitous lawsuits to bring down an isolated opponent.
They'd seen it.
USA is about individuals, individual rights (somehow now wrongly label as "unjust Privilege" - (in their Propaganda-speak twisted language). They foresaw exactly what is happening now, what DJT and we all suffer and they attempted to thwart it, with this rule of priviledge; The Executive must be protected from Mob Rule; literal Mafia.
Mobs are deranged (delusional with too much power) crooks, who use the law, not for justice, but for personal power and the overlord-ship of their clique/ cult.
Many on Dem's side are under the Marx delusion, being ignorant of history and economics.
