This is the typical logic of NATO’s early doctrine. It can be gleaned from most of the statements made by Western countries that established and continue to dominate the organization.
The language oscillates between a friendly discourse – for example, Harry Truman’s reference to NATO as a ‘neighborly act’ – and a threatening one, also Truman’s tough language against “those who might foster the criminal idea of having recourse to war.”

The NDP leader first made the erroneous statement while speaking to reporters at the 2024 Progress Summit. The conference is run by the Broadbent Institute, which has close ties to the federal NDP.

Ottawa police are investigating a hate speech allegation following a pro-Palestine protest in front of Parliament Hill on the weekend.
The Ottawa Police Service announced Monday that its Hate and Bias Crime Unit was spearheading a probe after video circulated of a rally speaker justifying Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel.
In a video posted to X by Dacey Media, a crowd of protesters marching in front of the Canadian parliament building could be heard cheering after the speaker said, “Oct. 7 proves we’re almost free!”
The video, which had over 2.5 million views as of Monday afternoon, has been seen as glorifying the terror group’s attack that killed over 1,200 men, women and children.
Hamas also took more than 250 hostages, and according to Israel, almost 130 of those are still being held captive.
“When I say from the river to the sea, you reply with ‘Palestine is almost free,’” a man can be heard telling the crowd as they march past Parliament Hill. “Our resistance attacks are proof that we are almost free.”
He continued shouting through a megaphone to the crowd, some waving Palestinian flags, others showing their support for the Iranian regime. At least four Revolutionary Communist Party flags can be seen waving in the video with the Marxist hammer and sickle displayed.

In response to an inquiry by Coun. Allan Hubley, city officials revealed that as of Dec. 31, 2023, 47% of single adults in Ottawa’s homeless shelters were newcomers to Canada.
“In 2023, Ottawa experienced unprecedented highs in the number of newcomers accessing our housing and homelessness support system,” the response reads.
“As a result, the system is operating far above capacity creating resourcing issues impacting the ability to provide adequate services to integrate these newcomers into the community. The federal government is taking aim at plastic with a federal registry that will require some companies to regularly report their plastic production and importation.
Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault made the announcement during his kickoff of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Monday.
Delegates and representatives from around the world are meeting in Ottawa this week to develop an internationally binding agreement on plastic pollution by the end of the year, The United Nations Environment Programme is responsible for organizing the meetings.
“I am determined,” said Guilbeault. “I know that we will forge a historic milestone to end plastic pollution.

A British Columbia NDP MLA is trying to get taxpayers to fund a no-whites-allowed committee to “eliminate systemic racism.”
MLA Niki Sharma has proposed the creation of a “racialized” committee under Bill 23, the Anti-Racism Act. If passed, the committee would create a framework for the province to combat racism.
All members of the Provincial Committee on Anti-Racism, under the bill, would have to be “racialized” and “have expertise in working to eliminate systemic racism and advance racial equity.”
Taxpayers will fund their work and will reimburse the racially exclusive committee for “reasonable” travel and out of pocket expenses.
The committee would have at least two individuals who represent organizations which support “racialized individuals or communities,” two who have “expertise in systems thinking theory and practice,” and two who have experience in the development and delivery of anti-racism training curricula.
If passed, Bill 23 will make the provincial government create an anti-racism action plan in collaboration with this committee which is meant to root out “systemic racism and systemic racism specific to indigenous people,” all while advancing racial equity.

Government sources told Radio-Canada that the feds expected Canada Post to be involved in the collection of the 144,000 now-banned “assault” and “military-style” firearms, as the crown corporation is already responsible for delivering guns purchased by Canadians online.
However, Canada Post is declining to do so, saying in a recent letter to Ottawa that it is concerned for the safety of its employees, who would have to be the ones out knocking on doors.

Two former United Nations employees in Montreal have been charged by the RCMP for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy to sell military equipment, including Chinese-made drones, to Libya in violation of sanctions.
According to the RCMP, 61-year-old Fathi Ahmed Mhaouek, who resided in the Sainte-Catherine suburb of Montreal, has been arrested and is expected to appear in a Montreal court on Tuesday.
“It is alleged that Mhaouek conspired to facilitate purchases of Libyan oil between prohibited entities and the People’s Republic of China contrary to the United Nations Act,” reads an RCMP statement.
His alleged accomplice, 27-year-old Mahmud Mohamed Elsuwaye, remains a fugitive with Interpol issuing a global alert to track him down.
The RCMP say both men were employed by the International Civil Aviation Organization, a UN agency with its headquarters located in Montreal, when the alleged conspiracy occurred.

While some claims seem more legitimate, such as those from Haitian students (coming from a country that has been taken over by gangs), most claims have come from the huge surge of Indian students whose student permits are starting to expire.

Ten crew members from the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) have died after their helicopters collided during a parade rehearsal on Tuesday morning.
The two aircraft crashed at the Lumut TLDM naval base while carrying out a flyby ahead of a 90th anniversary celebration, the navy said in a statement.
“All victims were confirmed dead on site and the remains were sent to TLDM Military Hospital for identification process,” the statement read, adding that an investigation had been launched into the cause of the incident.
The two helicopters involved were an AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter and a lighter Eurocopter Fennec. One copter had seven crew on board, while the other had three.
The AW139 crashed onto the steps of a stadium while the Fennec went down at the pool of the base’s sports complex, according to local newspaper Malaymail.
The navy has called on the public to refrain from sharing videos and photos of the deceased to protect the sensitivity of the victims’ families.

In George Orwell’s novel, 1984, the populace was largely controlled by the Ministry of Truth, which through absolute control of the media, information and education was able to convince the people to blindly accept the government’s narrative.
While Orwell’s novel was inspired by Stalin’s Soviet Union, the irony of the book is that this kind of control has been growing in all countries around the world since before he began writing the book in the late 1940’s.
In fact, throughout history the powerful have sought to control the message because they understood that the easiest way to control people was to have their willing cooperation in their own subjugation. And this could be accomplished if they could control what people believed.
In May of last year, I first interviewed Judith Brown, a retired nurse from the U.K., who about two years ago, began using her considerable research skills to unmask the so-called ‘fact checkers’, to reveal who they really work for and what their role is in controlling the message.
