Plane Crashes Into River in Alaska, No Survivors Found

The National Transportation Board has reported a Douglas C-54 airplane that was transporting fuel crashed into a river in Fairbanks, Alaska.

The Alaska Department of Public Safety reported, “The aircraft slid into a steep hill on the bank of the river, where it caught fire. No survivors have been located.”

There were two people onboard the aircraft at the time of the crash.

A preliminary report by authorities revealed the Douglas C-54 aircraft was conducting a fuel transport flight that was being operated by Alaska Air Fuel when it crashed into the frozen Tanana River at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

AP News said the Douglas C-54, a variant of the DC-4 airliner, crashed about 7 miles from Fairbanks International Airport.

Clint Johnson, chief of the National Transportation Safety Board's Alaska regional office, said the cause of the C-54's crash remained unknown, and an investigation is being launched.

On Aug. 23, 2023, Dr. Dean Smith, a senior scientific evaluator in HC’s Vaccine Quality Division, wrote an email to a colleague at the FDA about SV40.

Health Canada had obtained confirmation two weeks earlier from Pfizer that SV40 DNA sequences were present in its COVID-19 vaccine.

“I understand that there have been internal discussions at CBER [Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research] regarding the presents [sic] of an SV40 enhancer/promoter sequence, noting that its presence is unrelated to the purpose of the Pfizer’s plasmid as a transcription template for their mRNA COVID-19 vaccine,” wrote Dr. Smith.

The Canadian Medical Association is warning the federal government that raising the capital gains tax will jeopardize physician recruitment and retention in Canada.

The association supports the healthcare investments announced in the federal budget but says that the proposed changes to the capital gains inclusion rates will negatively affect physicians, most of whom operate their practice as small businesses.

“These changes could jeopardize ongoing efforts across Canada to recruit and retain a high-quality health workforce,” said Dr. Kathleen Ross, president of the Canadian Medical Association.

True North previously reported that the budget raises the inclusion rate for capital gains tax from 50% to 66% for individuals on amounts exceeding $250,000. The amendments to the Income Tax Act come into effect on June 25, 2024.

The Liberals estimate an extra $19.4 billion over the next five years from raising the capital gains tax.

Ross said that many physicians have incorporated their practices. They have relied on their professional corporations to save for retirement in lieu of employer retirement or pension plans.

The construction of two new electric car battery plants promised to create jobs for Canadians, however after months of Windsor contractors submitting quotes for installing equipment at the battery plant, it was disclosed that NextStar and Stellantis were hiring 1,60o temporary foreign workers from South Korea and Japan to install the equipment.

This decision could ultimately cost Canadian skilled labourers around $300 million in lost wages and contractor fees, according to Canada’s Building Trades Union.

After the federal Liberals said that Saskatchewanians would not be entitled to the carbon tax rebate, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has reversed course, saying that they will indeed get the full pop — just as much as other provinces — despite paying less in carbon taxes.

The flip-flop comes after Trudeau’s Natural Resources Minister, Jonathan Wilkinson said that residents “will no longer get the rebate” in November.

Wilkinson’s threat came after Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe decided he would stop charging the federal carbon levy on natural gas for home heating effective January 1, 2024.

But now the Prime Minister said that Saskatchewan residents will get the full rebate, and falsely stated that his party always had that position.

Asked by a reporter on Wednesday, “Why have you now changed your position, and what does this mean for other provinces who also refused to collect?” the Prime Minister responded, “First of all, there’s been no change in position.”

Trudeau further threatened Moe with legal trouble

“I don’t know about you, but having an argument with CRA about not wanting to pay your taxes is not a position I want anyone to be in. Good luck with that Premier,” Trudeau said.

The feds have been irate with Premier Moe for knee-capping their federal carbon tax, with Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland also suggesting in November that it’s possible Premier Moe will get criminally charged.

“What can the federal government do to prevent [Moe] from acting unilaterally?” a reporter asked Freeland. “Will he, will the province, will anyone, incur penalties? Will there be fees? Or perhaps even jail time?” a reporter asked Freeland.

Freeland responded, “The federal government expects everyone in Canada to obey the law. Canada is a country of good peace, order, and good government. I think that is something all Canadians believe in. That’s something we expect.”

Based on Trudeau’s current approval rating, I think it’s safe to say Canadians would very much prefer the latter to more of Trudeau’s ‘help’. Nonetheless, Trudeau continued, saying that Canada (the federal government) must make “deliberate investments in the future”.
