The daggers are out in full force against Tucker Carlson, and this time, it’s not from the usual left-wing nutjobs but rather “friendly fire” from the right. That’s right, the hate has been flowing like lava from conservatives online and in the media. Folks on the right have such a hard time hiding their jealousy of Tucker. No matter how they dress it up with “facts” and “objectivity,” the envy is palpable. Instead of appreciating the interview between Tucker and Rogan for what it was—a free-flowing, casual, yet powerful and really interesting chat between two curious chaps just having a good time—they’ve twisted it into an opportunity to attack, slam, and mock Tucker, trying their hardest to label him as some kind of fringe kook who’s lost his relevance.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this same group has been targeting Tucker a lot recently, particularly over his interview with Putin and his alternative perspective on the Israel/Palestine narrative.

One of the most notorious neocon GOPe writers, Tiana Lowe, who writes for one of the biggest “right-wing” sites, the Washington Examiner, which tends to have an establishment slant, didn’t waste any time attacking Tucker Carlson’s appearance on Joe Rogan. She painted him as a pro-Hamas/Russian agent.

Tucker Carlson, having decided he has provided enough cover for contemporary adversaries such as the Kremlin and Hamas, has pivoted to defending Imperial Japan. In the telling of the commentator, the Allied powers of World War II were not just unjustified in dropping the atomic bomb over Hiroshima and then Nagasaki, but they were outright “evil.”

“I love by the way that people on my side — I’ll just admit it, on the Right — have spent the last 80 years defending dropping nuclear bombs on civilians,” Carlson said on the latest episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast. “Like, are you joking? That’s just prima facie evil. If you can’t — ‘Well, if we hadn’t done that, then this, that, the other thing, that was actually a great savings’ — no. It’s wrong to drop nuclear weapons on people, and if you find yourself arguing that it’s a good thing to drop nuclear weapons on people, then you are evil. It’s not a tough one, right? It’s not a hard call for me. So, with that in mind, why would you want nuclear weapons? It’s like just a mindless, childish sort of exercise to justify, like, ‘Oh no, it’s really good because someone else could get’ — how about, no? How about spending all of your effort to prevent this from happening.”

For starters, the Allies were not the ones to trigger the prisoner’s dilemma that culminated with the deployment of the Little Boy and the Fat Man. It was the Germans who began the atomic arms race with the Nazis’ discovery of nuclear fission, and thanks to the rampant racism of the Nazis, it was Jewish emigres from Nazi-controlled territories like Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard who ran to warn the West and help the Allies develop our own atomic bomb. Contrary to Carlson’s canard here, there is no counterfactual in which the Allies initiated nuclear weapons development unprompted, nor was merely destroying the Axis progress on their program in Central Europe a possibility.

But the real idiocy of Carlson’s irony is not just that the West wound up saving more lives in total by dropping the atomic bombs over Japan, but also that the United States specifically saved more American lives by doing so.

It’s the same old playbook used by NeverTrumpers and the left to attack President Trump. Clearly, the uniparty is alive and well and operating on the right. Independent journalist Mike Cernovich summed up the conservative ankle-biters best with this post on X:

No hiding from draft abroad – Kiev

Foreign Minister (Big Fat Crybaby) Dmitry Kuleba has explained that Ukrainian consuls will not serve fighting-aged men residing abroad

Ukrainian consular offices in foreign nations will not serve fighting-age men who are unwilling to risk their lives for their country’s survival, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on Tuesday.

According to Ukrainian media,Kiev’s diplomatic missionsin several Western nationsstopped processing such service requestson Tuesday. Even documents that have been finalized are not being handed over to Ukrainians, reports said.

Kuleba confirmed that he ordered the policy change and that it ismeant to encouragemen to come back to Ukraine for possible call up for military service. (That’s not how encouragement works, it’s actual blackmail and slave labor)

”How it looks like now: a man of conscription age went abroad, showed his state that he does not care about its survival, and then comes and wants to receive services from this state. It does not work this way. Our country is at war,” he said on social media.

The order to deny consular services to all men aged 18 to 60 was first revealed by Ukrainian media on Monday.Kuleba described his decision as “fair”and in line with the reform of the military mobilization system, which President Vladimir Zelensky signed into law this month. The changes include various punishments for avoiding the draft.

According to EU officials, an estimated 650,000 Ukrainian men of fighting age are living in its member states. Kiev has identified that pool as a significant untapped source of manpower for the armed forces.

The changes in military service laws include the lowering of the draft age from 27 to 25, an overhaul of available exemptions and a requirement thatpotential conscripts update their personal data with the Defense Ministryso that they can beeasily issued summonsed. All men aged 18 to 60, regardless of eligibility, will be required to carry papers confirming their registration with a conscription office, after the reform enters force next month.

Askedin early Aprilhow many troops Kiev intended to mobilize, Zelenskydodged the questionand claimed that Moscow had plans to enroll 300,000 additional troops. Russian officials said that was not true, since its military attracts enough volunteers to meet its personnel goals.

Russia has seized initiative in Ukraine conflict – defense minister

Moscow’s forces have liberated several more settlements in Donbass, Sergey Shoigu has said

Russian troops arefirmly in control of the battlefield situationand are steadily pushing back Ukrainian forces, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has said.

Speaking at the meeting with top Russian commanders on Monday, the minister announced that Moscow had liberated the villages of Pervomayskoe and Novomikhailovka, west and southwest of the Russian city of Donetsk, as well as the settlement of Bogdanovka not far from Artyomovsk, known in Ukraine as Bakhmut. The latter strategic city was captured by Russia last year after months of bitter fighting.

He added that the control zone was also being expanded in Berdychi and Georgievka, north and west of Donetsk.

”Our high combat potential allows us toconstantly strikethe enemy and prevent him fromholding the defense line,” Shoigu noted, estimating Kiev’s losses at half-a-million troops since the start of the conflict.

He also recalled that last year’s much-toutedUkrainian counteroffensive, prepared with the help of NATO instructors, had beena failure. “Our servicemen have dispelled the myth of the superiority of Western weapons,” he said.

The Russian minister also hailed the national defense industry, saying it had ramped up output repeatedly. This “has significantly increased the combat capabilities of our armed forces. This is evidenced by the situation in the special military operation zone,” Shoigu said.

Amid current tensions with the US and its allies, the minister vowed to furtherboostmilitary production while promising to“increase the intensityof attacks on logistics centers and facilities where Westernweapons are stored.”

Russia regularlyconductshigh-precision long-range strikes on Ukrainianmilitary infrastructure, logistics hubs, and defense industrial facilities. It has repeatedly said that it does not attack civilian targets.

In February, Russian forces liberated the strategic Donbass town of Avdeevka, and later captured several nearby settlements. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have largely attributed the retreat to a lack of ammunition and delays in Western assistance. Against this backdrop, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky acknowledged last month that Kiev was not ready to repel a major Russian offensive.

The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, has predicted that Kiev will face “a rather difficult situation” in mid-May and early June.

US denies submarine pact will cause arms race

The AUKUS deal does not create any new nuclear states, a senior US diplomat has said

The technology-sharing agreement between the US, the UK, and Australia, which will provide the latter with nuclear-propelled submarines, does not pose any threat of a regional arms race, a senior US official has claimed.

Bonnie Jenkins, the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security,attempted to dispelconcerns about the trilateral AUKUS scheme voiced by some Pacific nations during a briefing on Tuesday. The question about a possible arms race came from a Cambodian journalist, who said his nation, a close ally of China, was not happy about possible destabilization in the region.

Jenkins responded that Washington wanted to assure other nations that the pact, sealed in 2021, was not meant “to create any kind of arms races.” (well, it’s started already when Bidan picked a fight with Russia)

“Australia is not going to become a nuclear weapons state and they’re not going to be able to use the nuclear-powered submarines to develop a nuclear weapon either, becauseif they tried to do that, the whole submarine would not work anymore,” she explained. Concerns about the AUKUS deal expressed by other nations have not been limited to whether Australia could use the technologies to create nuclear weapons.

Critics of the deal, including Russia, have suggested it is a way for theUS to project additional military power in the Pacific.

Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow is “deeply concerned” that the AUKUS arrangement is increasinglyacquiring “the traits of a military bloc.”

He accused Western nations of brinkmanship which has led to the world “balancing at the edge of a direct clash between nuclear states,”in a reference to the Ukraine conflict.

Beijing also reiterated its own objections on Monday, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin saying that through AUKUS, Washington will violate the “purposes of the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Treaty and create severe risks of nuclear proliferation.”

Foreign Minister Wang Yi made a similar claim last week during a visit to Papua New Guinea, saying the region “should not be a playground for major powers.”

EU state to abandon teaching its second most spoken language

Latvia has approved the removal of Russian from the school curriculum

Starting from September 1, 2025, Latvian schoolchildren will not be able to study Russian as a second foreign language, the country’s cabinet ruled on Tuesday. The new regulations envisage a gradual phasing-out of the language by the end of the decade,with only EU languages remaining as options, plus those of Iceland, Norway, and Lichtenstein.

Since its time as part of the Soviet Union, the Baltic nation has had asizeable ethnic Russian minority, with some estimates putting thenumber at 25%of the total population. Moscow has accused Riga of discriminating against this group, citing among other things thepractice of issuing ‘non-citizen’ passports to Russianswho were born in Latvia during Soviet times. Thisstatus strips them of voting rights and restricts career opportunitiesfor certain jobs.

Last September, Latvia’s parliament ruled that Russian will be off-limits for public broadcasters starting from 2026. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denounced the ban at the time as “yet another manifestation of aggressive chauvinistic nationalism” and part of the government’s ongoing “war on the Russian language.”

Under the new rules, which were approved unanimously by Latvian ministers on Tuesday, schoolchildren will still be able to choose Russian as their second foreign language in the next academic year.

At present, English is offered as the first foreign language in all schools, with a second introduced upon completion of primary school. According to Delfi media outlet, citing Education Ministry data, Russian is currently taught as a second foreign language in nearly half of all Latvian schools.

Other options are often unavailable simply because there are not enough qualified teachers, the media outlet reported. The Latvian authorities apparently hope that the transition period will allow them to find the necessary personnel.

Delfi noted that the plan garnered an “unusually” high number of objections during public discussions. However, Latvian lawmakers reportedly ignored the more than 300 negative comments, many of which allegedly argued thatchildren should have the right to learn their native language.

Last month, the head of Latvia’s Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, Maira Roze, announced that thecountry will begin expelling Russians with permanent resident statuswho have either failed to apply for a new residence permit or failed to pass a compulsory language exam.

Moscow slammed Riga over what it called “openly criminal” treatment of people and an “evil act.”
